Correction - Balogun KO'd Danny Calhoun (not Corey Phelps) in the 1st round.

Having seen Danny Calhoun in action against Niall Kennedy - it's no more of an accomplishment.

Marlo Moore might be a good name to add to that list. Kind of a "Joseph Parker" type fighter. His career has been a bit slow in getting started, though.

Niall Kennedy, who won the New England Heavyweight Belt off of prospect Alexis Santos in 2017 and has made several successful defenses of it since, will be back in action to defend it on March 16th against a TBD opponent.

Kennedy is a very respectable HW, but he doesn't seem very ambitious. He mostly fights around Boston, MA in the USA where there is a very large Irish American population (Kennedy is Irish and is a full-time policeman when he isn't boxing in the USA) and seems content to defend that minor belt against mismatched (aside from Jo-el Caudle) opponents. That's a shame, as he'd be very competitive against the likes of Erkan Teper or Malik Scott on that March 10th Boston card...

I think Kean must have a second chance against Carman. Kean looked fine till that devastating KO loss. And now Carman lost in Russia... If Kean wants to achieve something he needs to show up 2x better and avenge for his loss against Carman.

Moore has quit boxing. Posted a statement on his Instagram a few months ago.

He is considered the top talent and greatest hope in German heavyweight boxing. The only 21-year-old Peter Kadiru has decided with his team on SES Boxing as his boxing promoter and will step into the ring for the first time as a professional at the Magdeburg SES boxing gala on March 2nd.

Born in Hamburg Peter Kadiru has already achieved many titles as junior super heavyweight e.g. twice U22 European champion, runner up world champion and Olympic Youth Champion 2014.

The MDR will broadcast this SES boxing gala with the debut of Peter Kadiru and the title fights by Agit Kabayel and Tom Schwarz on his program "SPORT im Osten – Boxen live" starting at 10.30pm.

Statements on the new SES deal from Kadiru:

Peter Kadiru: "I'm really looking forward to my professional debut and working with Ulf Steinforth. As an amateur, I've been following some of SES 'great boxing nights on TV and I'm proud to be part of this team now. I am convinced that together we can achieve a lot."

Bernd Böente, B+M Sport Management GmbH, who advises Peter Kadiru: "We had several lucrative offers for Peter Kadiru - many of them from abroad. But Peter wants to become the best out of his home country. SES is the ideal partner for us. I have known Ulf Steinforth for many years and I appreciate his excellent work. Thanks to his many years of cooperation with the MDR, we believe we have the right media partner right from the start for Peter. In the medium term, we hope that Peter will make the leap to nationwide awareness. I'm convinced Peter Kadiru will quickly prove the potential in him."

Should be an easy fight to make. I don't think Carman has many good options after getting blown away by Romanov.

Alonzo Butler no longer has a bout scheduled against Michael Davis (or anybody else). I doubt Butler is in the frame as a step-up opponent for Teslenko at this point, because I don't see him fighting a serious opponent without a tuneup having been out of the ring for 2+ years.

One fighter that might be worth considering as a "fringe prospect" in the USA is Johnnie Langston.

He's a southpaw who just moved to 6-0 with a MD win over Jo-el Caudle - a definite step up over the other fights he had beaten (all nobodies). Niall Kennedy failed to earn a decision over Caudle when they fought last summer (they drew) and Caudle had most recently beaten the respectable southpaw journeyman Kimdo Bethel Boykin last October. And he's been calling out Cassius Chaney for nearly two years now - with Chaney's camp showing no inclination to make that fight.

Langston is only 6' 1". Not sure what sort of potential he really has, but he's scheduled to fight again in March and I'll keep an eye on him.

Fight with Askins shows that Okolie has limitations in his ability. Matty Askin isn't top level cruiserweight but yet Okolie struggled with him.

Mike Balogoun of US beat Danny Calhoun via first round KO after more than year and a half break.
