Been loving the pressers the last week with AJ and Miller, he really knows how to push AJ's buttons fair play. Big Baby is a classic old school Heavyweight bully who's loving the trash talk on AJ and is milking it for every last drop. So much so that you can see AJ's perfect PR mask just getting lopsided every now and then and the real AJ peeking out from behind it. Mark my words, if Miller keeps this going I can see Joshua exploding before fight night and this will make for a very interesting contest on June 1st.
AJ has been real the whole time. When he's annoyed, it doesn't mean the mask has slipped, it just means he is annoyed. He's just no fake like Miller to pretend to be angry all the time.
Does make me laugh this 'AJ is rattled' nonsense. If you set out to anger AJ, he'll get angry. The problem is when he is angry - see Breazeale - he'll make you pay for it. All this gobbing off that Miller is doing will ultimately be his undoing come fight night, when he gets absolutely banjoed in his home town.
This. Just because someone is calm and respectful when other people are being calm and respectful back, it doesn’t mean that when they react badly to someone that their ‘mask’ has slipped and that is who they really are. Honestly the people who believe that are idiots. It’s like saying someones ‘mask’ has slipped if they react to being shouted at for no reason by their manager. it all stems from the whyte fight when he was talking about AJ outside of boxing and using his nigerian name. thing is. joshua had the right people around him and he grew up. i mean how many of us can say we are the same people we were when we were 16/17. especially with street culture in london these days. Joshua worked hard at boxing and life. and made it out. If he is slightly different behind closed doors then fair play, im a different guy at work to when im chilling with my boys, nothing wrong with that. crazy aint it
Hes fake in another way, like overly nice perfect thoughtful when he speaks respectful, Miller is acting bad boy to rattle him..Everyone knows this aint the real Joshua, its a PR made persona to max out his earning potential, I actually don't think its needed, people don't mind a wanker, they'll still pay to watch him crack heads !
Why should he act like a wanker towards people who haven't done anything to deserve it? He's not a Miller/Fury/Wilder type who will disrespect an opponent or potential opponent for no reason. This is why I prefer fighters like Joshua, Joyce and Dubois to be honest. They're honest, and don't need to fake disrespect for opponents to sell tickets.
We all adapt our behaviour when at work. It's called professionalism. He has to consider sponsors, his audience, media, employer, etc as well as not being distracted from what he needs to do in the gym and the ring. That's perfectly normal and how most people would be. But he is human and will react if provoked. Nothing fake about that. You're just hating for the sake of it.
I swear Anthony Joshua could sneeze and hed get hate on YouTube and the forums. It's actually a little amusing the effort they put in to trying to belittle or downplay him. Not that you have to like Joshua or anything but sometimes people just try too damn hard and it becomes a bit obvious. Like lennox Lewis.
I like AJ and think he's the best around at the moment bar none. I'd love to see him turn into a sort of anti-hero though and throw off the corporate shackles that he wears for the sponsors, but then again I do prefer the badasses in sport.
