Hearn approaches Wilder

He might not deserve 50% of the purse (personally I think 60/40 is fair) but he is 50% of why this is such a huge fight. Joshua vs. Parker, Takam, Miller etc. aren't mega-fights, but Joshua vs Wilder is, so you can't dismiss Wilder as just some insignificant challenger, who has no rights to make demands. He obviously brings something to the table otherwise this wouldn't be the potential mega-fight that it is. He should be getting paid a lot more than he usually gets for a fight of this magnitude.

 

I just look at the risk AJ has took in 22 fights and 5 years as a pro and the risk Wilder has took in 41 fights and 11 years as a pro........no comparison

 

Aye, no comparison in that regard. I just think negotiations for a fight of this size should consider more factors than just how many fights it's taken them to get here.

 

It’s been established that previous earning mean nothing in boxing. If you’re in a good spot, you earn what’s on the table.

Who are you to suggest what Wilder should earn? The whole thread here is based on the fact that Hearn has valued him at $15m per title defence.

Did Rocky Fielding deserve his career high payday against Canelo which probably dwarfed all of his other fight put together?

Virgil Van Dyke signed for Southampton for £13m and later signed for Liverpool was £75m. Values change over time.

Wilder deserves every penny he gets and he is a true champion.

I have come to the accurate conclusion that all this speculating and pontificating over what they think fighters they don't even have ten degrees of separation from are worthy of being paid is just a way of them making up for the complete lack of power and control they have in other areas of their lives.

At least we agree on one thing. Looking at it from AJ's perspective, I can see why he would be reluctant to massively overpay Wilder to get him to fight. I get the impression that AJ is no 'Yes man' when it comes to negotiating deals. If AJ vs Wilder was to happen late 2019, AJ would likely double his usual earrings while Wilder would likely multiply his 10 fold, or even more.

Given that AJ has 3 major belts to Wilders 1, there's a huge discrepancy there that I certainly wouldn't be able to just discount and disregard without a second thought.

 

Hearn has valued Wilders title defences at 15 million a pop which is way more than Wilders own team Ffs.

 

At this point Hearn needs to stop making offers to Wilder. He's literally bidding against himself, and losing.

Once Al Haymon wants the fight, it will happen. Until then, there's no offer Hearn could make that would make the fight possible.

Besides, for all the “Wilder ain’t worth anything” Hearn sure as hell is putting in the effort to get him. Wonder why?

Wilder should sign with ESPN, earn major money against Fury, and force AJ’s hand.
