Does Wilder need to raise his profile to get future fights with AJ and Fury?

Fury has stated just like Hearn that Wilder isn`t known enough to attract enough attention for a rematch, is he correct, should he try to get more of a rep and would that make future fights with AJ and Fury more epic in terms of viewership?

 

But if Wilder and Fury put some big wins under their belts won`t that make their eventual rematch bigger, Wilder is still pretty unknown in the US.

 

Fury v AJ would be a mega fight in the UK.

 

This is partially why the HW division (An boxing to an extent) are ****. You fight who's deserving, not who makes the most damn money for you. There's no reason whatsoever, for Fury - Wilder - Joshua to not all face one another.

 

I don't understand why Wilder's popularity is so little in the US. He's got the looks, the talks, the fight, pretty much everything needed for stardom. I guess he's not being promoted properly.

 

Fury isn't fighting any big names in his next fight.

He's hunting for bums to fight.

The rematch would have been bigger than the first fight.

What U.S heavyweight has a huge profile?

Boxing isn't big in America and has a multitude of other sports which it has to compete with, which are commercially bigger and more followed than boxing.

The heavyweight division has been dead for so long since the days of Lewis and Holyfield simply due to the fact that the modern day Heavyweight is more concerned with purses and protecting their 0.

 

Not being promoted right and the fact that his cv is abysmal! I don't think Americans care to see a huge monster like Wilder feast on scrubs (For the lack of a better word). Stiverne, oritz, and Fury are the only good fighters on his ledger. Terrible for the length of time he's had the belts, as well as # of defenses.

 

The only way he can raise his profile is by beating one of them or atleast better opponents than Breazeale and kownacki

 

No he just has to hang on to his belt.
His strap is his worth once that's gone no one will fight him, risk vs reward is the name of the game...
They all know how damaging a loss can/ would be... they can all come back from a loss... everyone loves a comeback, but you join the back of the que, Joshua and fury would be better placed to take a loss and still be in the mix as the domestic heavyweight scene over here is healthier. As we saw with chisora v whyte the British boxing fans are willing to pay to watch none title fights.

 

I did turn against Fury when I first heard about his $80 million deal but I also feel Wilder only fought him because he looked so ovderweight in his first two comeback fights.

 

There are no other US heavyweights aside from Wilder around even near the quality of Holyfield.

I agree with the other post tho boxers are definitely more concerned about keeping the 0, and money than anything else and that's one of the reasons why boxing is suffering in America in particular.
Promoters are like football agents just rinsing the sport for financial gain.
