Froch is lucky lucky he ain't the bag boy at Tesco. Prime degale was all wrong for Froch

 

Anyone who thinks Froch is trolling is mad. He's not a troll, he's just a very sad, insecure, bitter man. Listen to the podcast, it's vintage Carl Froch. He's been that way his whole career. Can't handle a bit of boxing trash talk. Anyone who ever said anything negative about him during his career, he's held onto it like a child and threw it in their face at the first opportunity. Particularly when a fighter is down from a defeat or retires. Real petty carry on that world champions should be exempt from.

George Groves - DeGale's big career rival - had respectful, praising comments for James on the day that was in it. I think that says it all.

 

I don’t really get why Froch saying deliberately obnoxious things to provoke a reaction on the internet, would be any different than him saying the same things because he genuinely believes them.

They’re both dick moves, two sides of the same coin. Regardless of the intent, it’s still the action of a sad, insecure prat with no social awareness, desperate to be the centre of attention in someone else’s moment.

 

I think he tries to disguise his bitterness and insecurity as banter. On his Twitter he said something like he can’t help himself when winding people up, but he clearly does it get his dig in and nothing else. He really is a humourless, charmless man. It’s just a shame that such a great fighter as he was, is an utter tool as a person.

I’ve tried to see a positive side but as you say, it all comes out in the podcast as well, it’s just his true character. Makes you wonder if he suffered some kind of humiliation as a kid and has never got over it, despite what he has achieved. Usually guys like that who have achieved it all and have no dragons to slay end up being humble as anything. But it’s like froch still has a hole there, like a fighter that no where near achieved what he wanted to. He clearly isn’t satisfied with the great career he had. He is like the guy that dies, goes to heaven and complains to god for making him go bald.

 

Degale's record speaks for itself. It's not even a debate in terms of him having a great career. Exceptional career. Won every title available to him. Has a truckload in the bank, young, full life ahead of him. Whether you like him or not he is a proven warrior. Never ducked anybody.

 

I still find it hard to believe he best Darren Sutherland en route to his Olympic gold medal.

Never particularly liked him to be honest.

I do have a feeling he's a nicer guy off camera,, as he seems very popular with alot of fighters he trained with.

He had a decent career though. Fair play to him.

The only guy from the current crop of Brits who could hang with the cobra is young CHRIS. Froch has sparred with a novice version of the young war machine and has said as much himself

Not many fighters froch dishes out the platitudes to, Kessler, pascal and young CHRIS and that’s about it

 

sounds like the cheaper option.... you don't need a degree to work out Froch has a chip on his shoulder. He likes the fighters you mention for obvious reasons, they probably massaged his ego at some point, he says the Kessler loss doesn't count due to too much ash from some volcano that exploded, so he can live with that as he won the rematch, so just one loss then Carl? Ward outclassed him though, funny how he hates the guy innit? Yes Froch was a great fighter though.

 

I feel a bit sorry for Degale, mostly because that was an unhappy ending and it comes at the end of a career that he must have mixed feelings about.

Degale's important fights were all life and death affairs, he never had a really dominant and easy performance, and to talk about "2x world champ" always felt like a bit of a psychological stretch. He lost the belt in an awful performance against bang average Truax, and won it back in sluggish fashion. My memories of his fights are mostly him trying to take time off on the ropes and riding his luck there.

I always felt Degale was a confidence fighter. He never seemed sure of himself, always looking around him for reassurance from someone else. He kept doing this even recently in the build up to Eubank Jr, with all his aside comments to 'Gabriel' (who I assume was the host for most of the contractual face-offs). I think the reception to his antics early on in his career wasn't good, and he wound up playing the tool against Groves, and then took an L. Since then always felt Degale could have done with a good psychologist in his corner, and instead he had Jimmy Mac. Partly the whole 'road warrior' thing was just a result of him being a boo-worthy middle tier ticket seller in the UK, and so a lack of genuine interest from promoters. I've no idea what his financial situation is, but I imagine he could have played things differently and made significantly more by jumping on the UK ppv train in his peak years.
