Next in the series after Max Schmeling

    In three categories
Best win: In terms of quality of opponent, and manner of victory
Most important win: In terms of historical significance
Most spectacular performance: Not really the quality of the win, just a great display of the champion's ability.

    My picks:
I think his best win, and most important, are clear him beating Sharkey in their second fight. I'm also going to pick it, perhaps controversially, for his most spectacular performance. While he had less trouble in other fights, I think it was more just the opposition being weaker than him performing better.

There will always be a huge question mark over this victory as far as I am concerned.
Take it out of the equation and what do you have?
Points victories over an unranked Uzcudun don't qualify imo.
A cut eye win over Neusel who essentially quit?
Its a thin gruel to be sipping.

I think it was probably legit, I think the bigger issue is how much did Sharkey have left at that point, given his poor performance against Schmeling, and subsequent fights.

I'd guess his win of Loughran would probably be the next best of the bunch.

Certainly not one of the better champions.

To be fair the OP is looking at all the champs in chronological order,so no agenda here.

I was just having a lighthearted joke. Not trying to offend.

Best: Sharkey II (no explanation needed)
Most important: Sharkey II (again no explanation needed)
Most spectacular: Loughran (a very dominant win over a #2 contender, who was on a good run of form)

It is wroth noting that Tommy Loughran bested Jack Sharkey in a very close fight, between Carnera lifting the title from Sharkey, and defending it against Loughran.

Of those who with me believe the 2nd Sharkey fight was legit, Jack never waivered or spoke much of the fight and when in old age he did he put it simply, Primo's jab had much improved and he couldn't get out of the way of it, it put him out of balance the whole fight, he never saw the uppercut that felled him, it landed and he was out.

The fact that Sharkey lost to two men who Carnera beat around the same time, in his next two fights, makes the result of the Sharkey Carnera fight seem less remarkable.

I think it hardly likely that he would have admitted taking a dive.
We do know Sharkey broke training and went home to check on the health of his children after "a threat ,"had been made.Who made the threat and for what reason we don't know.Sharkey's own manager Johnny Buckley believed he took a dive.Who was closer to the action than he?

    Either way.his best wins are.
    1. A controversial ko over a," gone back ," Sharkey.
2.A points decision over a punch-less light heavy whom he outweighed by 86lbs.
    Can we agree on this?
