He was good, very good in fact.

He had a tendency to let himself down in some of his performances, but somehow had the backing behind him to convince people to tune in, even after a win that should have been more convincing considering the opponent...

Ron Essett is a good example, he should have won easily but looked terrible, yet the backing and the excuses had people believe Essett was better than "We Thought" and people fell for it...

His legacy. he was one tough man who could fight, but didn't step up and prove himself to be what he had the public percieve him to be, or was stopped from doing so because other's didn't gain from it...

No hate here for him, but the cycle is repeating itself in the young one.

And people will be easily parted from their hard earned to fund it for them sadly.

 

At the moment, whichever McGuigan is ruining boxers careers.

Carl Froch is an utter idiot, there's something clearly wrong with him, to be honest I think he needs help, or a hiding, or both.

Nigel Benn annoys the crap out of me, I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, and I grew up a fan of his, I just think he's a bit of a manchild, and he says dumb things.

Billy Joe Saunders for talking way too much without the activity, top level fights and still milking dodging a punch from a weight drained Lemieux .

Scott Quigg purely because he looks like the kind of person who would start on you in the pub for no reason other than he's angry, silly I know, but I think there's something in it. Saying that, he's probably alright!

Eubank Jnr is still annoying but he's getting better, I dread to think how awful he'll be if he gets a shot at a World Title against one of the average SM's.

Correct, but we cant ignore the fact that he's pushing world class boxers to the brink, the cards don't show this..He gets outboxed, but he obviously has something that can make him compete at this level as the poster says that your responding to.. Bjs is far more skilled than Jnr and for me the best 160 fighter, with GGG showing his age, BUT, I would bet my life that BJS will have torrid moments with Jnr if they rematch at any weight..Jnr has better fitness and desire and physical strength than most at 160, that how hes competing with fighters better than him imo or more skilled..Hes a tough ******* too, id say his physical strength is off the charts

 

He was a fav of mine, but hes worn thin with me too. I'd say he could be a right wanker, a flash wanker

I think hes very shy and struggles a bit with it, but a good guy

 

If Eubank was a nice lad, humble, polite, not unnecessarily arrogant, if he wasn't his dad's son, people would be rooting for him, they'd see past the flaws and genuinely hope that he could improve and become the fighter he could be.

 

This.. Think about it though, theres no dirty stories or domestic crap outside the ring that you hear with him, and when I hear him interviewed all he is is a bit cheesey, its more the fact his Dad is the nob and people take it out on Jnr...Anyone that's sparred him, say Froch for example, comes away thinking hes better than first thought

 

Why does he need to be humble and polite?

What has Eubank done that is any worst than the other British boxers that many fans look up to?

BJS, Tyson Fury are afforded more support to the point that it has become a sin to even question them . These two are guilty of being far more arrogant and terrible individuals yet they do not receive half the backlash Eubank receives

 

I agree with you, but it is the way Jnr does it, added with the fact that he's his dad's son so he, rightly or wrongly, gets that stigma attached to him, which makes his behaviour come across a that much worse.

Saunders is a fool, no question, and I can imagine he was a horrible little f**ker as a kid. Fury, for all of the behaviour in the past, he's a good bloke, his heart is in the right place and I have warmed to him a lot, even if a lot of it could be an act, I like him.

 

Yeah you can't question his heart and fitness, but that isn't enough for the top level and he is a level below them. I disagree he pushed Groves to the brink I didn't see that at all and I was sat pretty close. Groves has a reputation himself for gassing a bit but he looked fine in there.

Saunders was taken to the brink but was that more to do with his own fitness problems? Either way it is a bit of a leveller for Eubank.

Can't knock Eubank for his qualities but he isn't top level but i agree the qualities mentioned make him able to compete at a higher level than his boxing skillset.

 

Spot on. Saunders is a horrible little scrote.

Fury deep down is a kind, genuine person with time for people. He's a good bloke and he's absolutely hilarious too.
