I know Jones is expected to be the one bringing the excitement - but why didn't Smith do something... Atleast try and throw a punch - Jones stood right infront of him for a minute, with Smith just waiting for the clinch. Easy work for Jones though. Hopefully the 'long-term' doesn't show up in a high doses...
Lol, Smith is delusional... Not giving Jones props for him having a hard time - saying the loss was all on him using his offense, and not Jon by using his reach and IQ that made him unable to do, what he wanted to.
I don't think it was a bad call from Herb Dean. Don't get me wrong, we now know Robbie could have continued and on the balance of the fight Robbie looked the better man, but even knowing the outcome, I saw Robbie's arm go limp and it looked out to me as well. Herb had to make a split second call and given the info he had at the time I understand why he made the one he made. The right thing to do now is have a rematch.
It was a terrible stoppage and hopefully there is some sort of consequences for the ref,it seems weird I know but going limp is fairly common strategy in that spot and Lawler new he was in little danger as the choke wasn't under the chin and he wasn't wasting energy,if you watch a few of the different replay angles you see him giving the thumbs right before the stoppage
They gave performance bonuses to Walker and Sanchez and somehow Usman gets nothing for winning the title in dominating fashion lol,I love Sanchez and happy he won but no way is a win over Micky Gall more impressive then what Usman did last night against a long reigning champ
For Usman the only fight to make is Covington unless they give unwarranted rematch to Woodley but with Covington there is some heat there that will help sell an otherwise boring fight. The 1st person Usman went up to after walking out the cage last night was Covington who had been talking all sorts of **** including at Usmans pre fight workout where Colby was yelling from the crowd with a bull horn lol
Absolutely should be no consequence for Herb. It was the wrong call in terms of Robbie wasn't actually out, but the way his arm dropped limp, it's a perfectly reasonable call to make
