As sad as it is, I think I only actually liked listening to the HBO commentary team, I don't think for any other reason than it's what I've been used to for most of my life with most of the big fights. The British commentators often sound like they should be covering a football match with their tone of voice, the HBO guys I just found strangely reassuring.

What are Buffer's 'dreadful basic political opinions?'

Can't say I've heard much from him in this regard. In fact, the only non-boxing thing I can recall him being mentioned about was that apparently he's really anti-big game hunting. Think he was tweeting a load of abuse at those weirdo Americans who pay fifty grand to get taken out into the African bush to blow away some lion or giraffe. Fair play from me to be honest.

I meant the the run of the mill 'Everything Donald Trump does is bad' default state of mind that lots of American celebs seem to have, just because it's trendy.

He also makes lots of personal comments about the appearance of different political figures.. as if he hasn't had tens of thousands of dollars worth of work done himself.

I think lots of the time it's not even him tweeting from his account. I get the impression that as part of his contract with Matchroom they're allowed to tweet as 'him' every so often.. hence the poor tweet about 'perfect records' a few weeks ago (in reference to Fury and Wilder's draw).

Steve Bunce. It's a coin flip whenever he opens his mouth whether it's fact or fantasy. Literally makes stuff up. Add to this his high-pitched and insincere Mutley laugh and the sickening sycophancy directed at whoever he is interviewing, and you have my P4P annoyance in boxing...

That's the weird thing, when he writes he can be very good - almost understated - but then his copy has to be proofed by editors and sub-editors so I guess they keep him in check. But free of cross examination by others, he talks utter BS....

    Oh god, so...

Benn, Eubank Jr, Froch, Saunders, Bellew, all of the Smiths bar Stephen, Nelson, Adam Smith, Whyte and Fowler are probably the hardest for me to digest.

Okolie - think he's just awful and far too up himself
Hearn - Silver spoon fed up himself.. but I rate him as a business man
Khan - Things just can never be simple with him, but I rate him as a boxer

Bunce is the obvious choice, so I'll pick him.

There's a few people I'm not too keen on but if it's people I actually can't stand then just now it has to be Yarde and Tunde. They're both so full of shìt. That Tunde comes across as one snidey, strange wee guy. He's got such a big chip on his shoulder. He's so patronising as well. Defending Yarde's terrible opponents by saying they're only unknown because people don't know their boxing. Shouting that Sjekloca was good. Yes he was half decent but that's all he's got and that was about 3 or 4 fights ago and fought absolute dross since then. You can see Yarde idolises him as well and is massively influenced by him. Even the way he talks and his mannerisms have rubbed off on Yarde and it's like it's his little ( big) clone. And I hate their cringy banter with each other when they giggle together like a couple of schoolgirls. And don't get me started on the chanting about Iions in the camp...

    Can't stand them. Rant over.

Interesting that there are more than double the replies for ‘who you hate’ in boxing, compared with the previous thread - ‘who are your favourite characters?’ I thought this was a fans forum!!

I think his broadcast style is his 'schtick' his attempt to carve out an identity. I find him very hit and miss. I respect he's put the time in and has been a long term supporter of boxing. Sometimes he can tell a good anecdote and I'll enjoy his delivery, he's good on Fighting Talk for instance, often though he's just plain idiotic and I want him to shut up, especially when's interrupted someone making a good point in order to spout some vapid, clueless nonsense, which is pretty much what happens about 30 times every BBC boxing podcast.

When I turn on the news I am always expecting to hear that Mike Costello has decapitated Buncey and is parading his severed head throughout broadcasting house whilst wearing his skin as a cape. Once they play back the tapes there's not a jury in the land that will convict him.
