Groves was over the hill when he faced Eubank and still dropped him twice and won an easy UD. Groves was actually retired by Callum Smith.

DeGale should’ve retired after having his ass handed to him by US journeyman Truax. He only fought Eubank Jr for the cash- and didn’t show much ambition other than to survive.

So Eubank Jr hasn’t retired either fighter. He does have a habit of facing big names who are washed up though. I think that’s part of his matchmaking tactic as his team knows he isn’t genuinely world class.

He also retired Tom Doran and Nick Blackwell.

Say what you want about Young Christopher. Clearly when boxers get in the ring with this young animalistic warrior, they leave the ring a broken shell of the person they were before.

So why he could't retire ATG boxers Renald Quinlan and JJ Mcdonaugh ?!

The real question is will Eubank Jr ever become world champ ? Only if the stars aligne lol and he gets a shot at vacant title vs Yildirim maybe.....I think Ronald Gavril beats him

McDonagh literally quit mid fight because he was getting battered. Not easy to permanently retire someone who quits during the fight.

I've been saying this for a while.
We're all well aware of CEJs technical short-comings, but he takes punishment well and recovers very quickly, his conditioning is pretty much the best I've seen outside of the ATGs.
His tempo and intensity, even in his narrow defeats, have led to his opponents looking like they've been in a car crash.
The remarkable thing is that he can dole out and absorb savage punishment above his natural weight class.
Ok, he's been naive tactically and is the architect of his own under-performances but he will get his dues imo sooner or later. Those betting against him because they think he's hit his ceiling are dead wrong imo.

Badou Jack retired Degale maybe, or Truax.

As for Groves, I don't think Eubank retired him by getting easily beat, but the fight might have due to the shoulder injury which has nothing to do with Eubank. Groves clearly didn't have 100% capability in it for the Smith fight and this may well have cost him the fight. So we can't really say Smith properly retired him either considering the circumstances, but that fight was obviously the last straw.

If anybody retired Groves psychologically it was the German guy he made into a vegetable. Because he keeps mentioning it as a reason not to stick around.

Badu Jack retired both Degale and Groves.

Neither were the same after him.

I defo think Groves' tactics to hold Eubank on the inside contributed to the broken shoulder. Eubank is very active and awkward on the inside, and I think Groves trying to combat that led to the shoulder break.

Which he probably didn't fully recover from for the Smith fight

    JJ took a dive

Very suspicious betting patterns and behaviour from JJ in that fight

Degale had no business being in that ring and simply cashed out. Grooves beat jr silly and probably would’ve retired laughing if he didn’t in fact get stopped and retired by Smith.

    In short, hell no.
