Canelo and his team did exactly what Saunders openly admitted he was doing, wait until GGG showed signs of age. Saunders literally explained the thinking behind his blatant ducking after the Andy Lee win in an IFL interview, it's on record! Years later, sure enough he started asking for the fight, around the same time as Canelo. What a coincidence!

 

Canelo is a small MW, nothing wrong with taking a little time to adjust to the weight.

It’s not like GGG rapidly declined in the space of one year, he was the same fighter as he was in 2016. If he’d waited until GGG looked old and shot you’d have a point but Canelo fought a prime version.

bj became relevant titlewise in 2015, along with GGG, and lost his 2018, again along with GGG. how can he have waited "years" as you claim?

the only similarity is between bj and ggg, both won one title in the ring each, and both won and lost their titles around the same time, except ggg lost his by loss to another fighter.

 

Canelo doesnt get a lot of credit for his 'wins'. Just read any boxing message board and you will see that most people see him as an overachieving, heavily protected *****.
