Oscar: “Canelo wants Andrade after Jacobs”

As someone who is fond of Golovkin, I consider his lack of focus and determination to chase and unify all the titles and to become lineal undisputed middleweight champion is pitiful. He already got himself three hard-earned titles in WBA, WBC and IBF. It takes a lot of effort to get all those titles and retain it, including fighting the mandatory against Jacobs, and it only takes one more fight against WBO titleholder. But he didn't push hard enough to bring Saunders to the ring with him.

Well, I understand that the fight with Canelo would be the pinnacle of his career and the one that would pay him the biggest money. But, in my honest opinion, I don't think he should abandon his initial objective. After he got blatantly cheated in the first match against Canelo, he should realize that there's no way to win on decision against Canelo in American soil and should divert his focus back to unification target.

Some people might say that in modern era of boxing, world titles are meaningless. But world champion is still a world champion. It's an official title and it's legit. It gives you status within the organization. You can't fight someone to become the best in the division without fighting it in world championship title match. And become the lineal undisputed world champion means you are the top of the world in the division, a real deal. If only GGG becomes one, it could have give him better position in negotiating term. It puts his name in history.

Now you see that Canelo aims to be one as well. Because he knows lineal champion status is highly valuable. For me, who have been following Golovkin's career for 8 long years, he has been through a lot of hardship and never ducked anyone. If anyone deserves to be lineal champion, it's him. And now I know it's all too late.

 

Hard earned?

He won the vacant WBA title, the vacant WBC title and won the IBF title from Lemmy, a one dimensional power puncher who just won a vacant belt himself after the previous IBF champ Jermain Taylor got sent to a mental hospital.

 

Why do you feel the need to brag about your lack of understanding of this sport?

Calling him one dimensional is pretty damn dense but it doesn’t come quite as close to being a know-nothing, yap about everything moron as to claim that being a unified champ for a number of years while fighting all comers (the ones who were serious about their intentions) and destroying majority of them + almost beating the most consecutive title defences record is not called “hard earned”. That guy has delivered his whole career with only the end of it being a bit of a letdown.

Great if true. Golovkin twice, Jacobs, and Andrade makes up for that string of farses against, Smith, Khan, Cotto, Chavez Jr., Kirkland, Fielding etc.

Andrade is the last piece remaining to unify the MW division. That's huge. Andrade wants the payday and is DAZN. Very easy fight to make.

Also, despite what you guys are trying to spin, this is a 0.0% risk fight for Clenelo. Andrade will do his Lara impression and not take a single chance. He will absolutely not reach out to seize the moment at any point in the fight.

Guaranteed decision. Clen will be unified MW champ if he just takes care of business against Jacobs.

 

Well then certain individual needs to make a move and take the belt from Andrade before Moo does.
