Why does Canelo get credit for fighting GGG even though he clearly ducked him in 2016?

    Derevyechenko was GGGs mandatory, and GGG knew that. We all knew that Canelo was going to be suspended, and most thought it was going to be for far longer than six months. That means that at the earliest GGG knew in Feb or March that he was not fighting Canelo.

    By early April, Derevyechenko's lawyer gets involved.
    https://sports.yahoo.com/sergiy-der...ding-fight-vs-gennady-golovkin-143555162.html

    Derevyechenko continues to insists on GGG satisfying his mandatory obligation with him willing to take the fight without being in a training camp like GGG was.
    https://www.badlefthook.com/2018/4/...ntinues-to-push-for-may-5-fight-with-golovkin

    GGG was not obligated to fight on May 5th, yet he decided to do so and eventually be stripped of the only title he had won off a fighter.

    Now get this;

    Both Canelo's team and GGG's team said they would not allow a sanctioning organization to dictate the terms.

    Like I said the same reason.

    Floyd drained Canelo down to 152 in a fight involving TWO WORLD TITLES. Why don't you ever mention this w/ malice? And Canelo most recently competed at 168. You kidding me? Canelo was a corpse.

    I thought you knew boxing?

    they both waived a defence out of choice to chase a bigger fighter.#

    Elite Cotto was at least 1 category higher than then world class 3G, when Canelo moved back down to face him. It was now or never to take an elite scalp.

    When 3G dodged Dev for Canelo, Canelo was a probable elite, Derev was merely a top contender like Jacobs, Canelo was at least 1 category above Derev.

    The magnitude and reason were the same. If you excuse one, you MUST excuse the other. Chopping and choosing hats makes 3G fans feel embarrassed.
