Im suprised Verdejo is fighting for a world title, he hasnt looked that great. He is fighting for the WBA gold title. If he loses this fight i would not be suprised if Top Rank drops him.

I was hoping he'd be the next great PR fighter but he has really disappointed. Seems more interested in a good time outside of the ring than focusing on being great in it.

I believe WBA Gold is just 'another meaningless' title. It's probably a ranking-entry match. If you see the current WBA ranking, Verdejo is not there at all. And someone can't just pop-up in the top 5 rank without having a predicate. This thing have been done many times in the past, especially when the boxer is backed by strong promoter. One of the example is Loma's WBO International title in his first pro match.

Usually WBA uses their 'International' title for this purpose. However, since this title was currently held by another boxer, they decided to create another one. :sisi1 I don't know why they name it 'Gold' title. But maybe it's just a troll to 'WBC Silver Title'.

WBA gold title =/= "world title".

Maybe Arum is paying the Wba some money on the side, if Verdejo is to lose the fight Arum is gonna be pissed.

Bryan Vasquez is a tough opponent and experienced one. His losses are only by the hands of top ranked and elite boxers. This is first Verdejo true test. Frankly, I'm sceptical about him winning the fight. His opponent is in a higher level than the one Teofimo faced.

Vasquez definitely has this upset in him, IMO.
