That Joker role was transcendent, probably a top 10 performance in a supporting role since 2000. I think that alone gives him legendary status.
A good example of that is 2pac. I don't believe he's the greatest rapper ever but his army of disciples do.
One of my favorite boxers of all time; tough as nails, crazy power, willing to challenge himself, could dig deep and would never accept defeat. I'll always wonder how far he could have gone.
Salvador Sanchez is one of my favorite fighters of all. A true ATG even in his short time on this earth. But I'd have to say your right on Valero I mean at this point its totally guess work as to what he would or could have been. Just felt watching him we were beginning to see something special! But who knows!
Had he not killed himself it would be very unlikely that he'd been out of prison and/or deemed mentally fit before even Pac ended his career. It was quite clear that he was the killer and had severe mental issues.
He was obviously very damaged inside so it's a bit of a moot point wondering how he would have done had he not taken his life because he probably would have done it sooner rather than later. Skill-wise I thought he was a bit crude, but he undeniably had heavy hands and a genuine killer instinct, no disrespect to his wife intended. Those types of guys can sometimes be very difficult to beat.
I have no ill will for this guy murdering his wife....but he was absolutely primitive as a boxer and im shocked people hold him in such high esteem today. I remember watching that DeMarco flight and actually laughing. Connor McGregor was a better boxer. Hands at his waste, chin on a platter, bombing away. It was pitiful. Pacquiao or Marquez would have literally sent his head into the stands. For the life of me I cannot understand Dougie's love of him. Maybe he was Sweetpea behind close doors in his famed gym-wars, but i seriously doubt it.
Valero was crude as they come and was good at knocking out cab drivers and road sweepers. He got out at the right time. There's no doubt he would have been exposed had his career gone on much longer. Tyrone Brunson had a similar 1st round KO run and hype and then look what happened.
Valero-Morales; This content is protected Always love to see Terrible come back firing in that particular, indignant way of his, but the kind of counters Edwin was landing there, I dunno, I can't help but feel Morales' butt would have been hitting the canvas hard if not for the 16oz gloves and headguard. You are correct. He battered Tony. Never cared for that Joker performance (method for its own sake, Phoenix's interpretation smokes Ledger's boots). Overrated on account of early demise. And I do realize the danger of making that statement in this particular thread. I remember Ledger as the guy who released moody videos of himself annoyingly set to great Nick Drake songs (because Nick has to be the patron saint of self-absorbed druggies now).
