He clearly added mass to his frame.

I think this is going to backfire, Mikey as a JWW would've likely walked into the ring already in the upper 140s, there was no reason for him to put on mass (bulky arms, core etc) and likely sacrifice precious speed (which he doesn't have much of anyway) as well as flexibility. Mikey's best chance was his skill set. Who knows how his body is going to handle the added bulk. Spence's style is conducive to making a fighter gas and fall apart anyway. My original position that he was gonna pummel Mikey has only been solidified by the video clip.

Fighters that bulk up to up need to realize they aren't really doing themselves favors by adding all that weight, not when they're sacrificing other things.

 

Cannot wait until this board is absolutely dumping all over Spence's one sided beating.

I made posts on here a long time ago about Mikey having power at welter weight but that was before I saw him against Broner at 140.It's quite a leap to suggest someone who couldn't stop Broner will suddenly do well against Spence.

Mikey is extremely confident, I'll give him that. And that confidence has (at least some) effect on Spence. That's also quite obvious.
But who will be more confident in the ring after a round or two, that's the question...

 

if mikey loses, it will be an arguello-pryor type loss. a smaller guy hanging with beast, before the size took its toll in a war. mikey aint getting run over.
the closest fight i can gauge how mikey might look at 147 was broner. broner was straight scared to mix it up with mikey, that clown started clappin with a weak smile when they announced the winner, he knew he wasnt bout that life. that kind of dominance over a b- welter told me he could beat all the b ranks at welter. now ive put a lot of faith in the training mikey has started specifically for this fight. i cant stress enough how much improvement training the midsection for the first time is going to make. his power will increase, his balance will sharpen, his durability will improve. at these levels, these minuscule improvements are what separate winners from losers.
thats just one many small details that have taken me from thinking mikey had a tiny chance to win, to thinking hes the one to bet on.
