Usyk the best cruiser weight king this division has seen so far.Not long ago I rewatched Hollyfield vs Cyzz. Hollyfield looked horrible against that no-hoper.Damn!Cant really imagine that Usyk will look that bad against the same type of limited opponent.Usyk dominated his division like no otger fighter before,and lets be honest, neither Hollyfield nor Haye really beat that kind of dangerous opposition as Usyk did
There's a few key differences between this and Evander's era: 1) there's an extra ten pounds of weight included in the limit. It was 190, now it's 200. That means more fighters are in the CW pool. 2) CW is always going to play second fiddle to HW in terms of money, but the paydays are better there now because the division is more popular (particularly in Europe) compared to Holyfield's era. 3) globalization has increased the available talent pool. Cuba, Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, couldn't produce pro fighters when Holyfield fought there. 4) as the average size of HW's increases, more guys who may be natural 205-210 pounders are finding themselves sized out at HW, so wind up at CW relative to Evander's era.
Spot on mate here here, while I must admit my knowledge of cruisers is limited I could google and play smart like a lot on here, but he’s leaving the division to early to be considered atg isn’t he? especially as his best wins were in wbss format. It’s not that the completion devalues his wins, it’s just that the route to all the marbles was more convenient than the traditional route to undisputed status. I think there’s no doubt he’s talented. But he’s held the belts for what 12 months and faught who bellew? And that was his matchroom coming out party wasn’t it? But maybe he’s the man I think he could be and like any real boxer would want titles in the marquee divisions, wouldn’t they? It’s difficult to know really but I’d bet he’s a traditionalist, and probably holds no value in his status/place in the cruiser weight division, and only recognition in one of the founding 4/5 divisions (depending on how traditional you are lol) would be worth having.

Truth. Also the competition route usyk took to the titles skews it even more. Then usyks wins on the road skews it back again. I just can’t help think usyk would swap his 4 cruiserweight titles for any of the heavyweight straps, and I think every cruiser in history would probably feel the same. Why be king of the pond? When you can be king of the ocean.
