No decade exists that either man couldn’t be champ.

The problem is that they are both strong on longevity as well as head to head.

Even if their careers overlapped with somebody who could beat them at their best, it is unlikely that he would be able to shut them out completely.

It would require both perfect bad luck on their part, and also perfect timing.

Rather than focusing on Tua not beating Byd, maybe we should be focusing on Foreman's inability to beat Young instead.

Might be difficult for them to win 'the title' in today's era, due to it not being readily available at all times. No doubt they'd be belt holders, but to be top of the tree, were either relying on unification fights... We all know how scarce they are in modern boxing or the lineal or ring magazine belt actually be on offer which again can go 3/4/5 years at a time in a certain division to be on offer. Also the 3 fighters they'd likely have to beat pose serious threats. Wilder has more than enough pop to spark Foreman and Ali, Fury is effectively a nightmare of both of them stylistically and Joshua has an incredible blend of power, speed and decent enough boxing skills to ask plenty of questions for both men.

Foreman was mentally shot after losing to Ali, and he was gaining weight quick

Haven’t posted much on here in years but I see David Tua is still massively overrated.

The problem is that neither put together an especially long reign, so it would be a game of capture the flag. They get it and they lose it.

If Ali was not banned he would have put together a ling reign. And maintained or slightly improved his peak.
