I just re-watched the 6th round of Joe v Roy and Jones landed with several right leads but Joe just walkled through them why was this? Was it just a matter of Roy not throwing enough punches or did he lack power at light heavy?

Because he was old and completely and absolutely washed up. That fight was a joke

Calzaghe having a solid chin is a factor. An even bigger factor is that Jones was more washed up than a bottle on the beach.

You don’t have to be Einstein to realise that the main reason was Jones was older than Jesus when he fought Calzaghe. The only surprise in that fight was that Calzaghe didn’t have enough power in his own punches to stop the ancient Jones which he really should have done.

I'm not sure but he also had trouble with Green, Lebedev and Maccarinelli.

Why would you even ask this Mark?

    It's like asking:

"Why was Tyson's power ineffective against Williams and McBride?"

    It's a pointless question.

Roy was gun shy with diminished reflexes, and Joe was super confident because he knew Roy was shot. And he literally used the word 'shot' in his autobiography which was released before they fought.

Although Joe had a great chin, a prime version of Roy would have had the power to seriously hurt him. We saw what Roy did to Griffin. We saw Joe get dropped by Mitchell, Salem, Roy and Hopkins.

By 2008, Roy as a whole was ineffective against top level opposition.

Only gonna be the 1 winner, whilst i visualize the loser sitting there making strange clicking noises, whilst rocking back and forth.

Because Jones was 5 years past the point of no return and his speed and timing were diminished.

Does this really need to be explained to you.

    Calzaghe masterfully chose his opposition.

Some people question the worth of Jones' wins over Hopkins and Toney.

What they should be questioning is the worth of Calzaghe's wins over Jones and Hopkins.

Loudoun, even though he is, admittedly, a Jones Loyalist, would easily wipe the floor with Mark Ant.

Some fighters' power depends much on their speed and reflexes, once they lose it, they lose their power.

That's why boxers took Jones' power well in his late career. That's why Bellew took all Haye's shots and wasn't hurt. Bellew who was KO'd cold by Usyk in his next match

You have a bit of a point re Jones.

But with the Hopkins inclusion, you're out to lunch.
