Interview today on ThaBoxingVoice: “There’s a lot of good things going on in these last 24/48 hours. It’s been crazy, a lot of offers. I’m gonna make the best decision for myself and for my family. I’m not gonna get too excited just yet, but I just know people’s gonna be very happy with the state of boxing. Everybody’s gonna get what they want at the end of the day and y’all can thank me later. “I’ve tried to prove that I’m the best and I’m still gonna keep doing it until the end of my career. When there’s one door close, there’s many more that open. But we will be one champion, one face, one name and it might be soon.” Regarding his status with Showtime, the WBC heavyweight champion added: “We’ve worked hand in hand together and we’ve built a beautiful relationship together. No matter what I decide at this point I’m sure they won’t have no grudge against me. I love Showtime, this is not farewell, it’s only goodbye for a little bit of time until I see them again. Showtime is well in the game, they’re in the discussion. I'm going to hear them out more than anyone first and foremost, let’s get that right.”
Wow if he actually does choose to break ranks and move over to fight on DAZN and fight Joshua or ESPN and fight Fury then credit must be given to him for that.
If Wilder goes to DAZN then he'd be able to make massive fights. I firmly believe his previous handlers were constraining him to fighting those tomato cans. If he can get a massive deal he would automatically be required to fight big name opponents, DAZN would make sure of that.
This deal is being negotiated directly with Al Haymon Shelly Finkel and John Skipper.. Big credit to John Skipper because he’s the one that forced Golden Boys hand in making the Canelo/Jacobs fight and it seems he’s about to finally give us AJ vs Wilder..
This is correct, Wilder's team have explicitly said that - his manager said that Gerald Washington was too dangerous a fight and wanted a tomato can instead . Wilder himself had to force the Ortiz fight otherwise he'd still be fighting B and C level guys. The Joshua fight both Wilder and Fury were asking for more than their fair share by using the possibility of fighting each other multiple times. But now with Fury off to ESPN that leverage is gone and it's very sensible to talk seriously about a Joshua fight on DAZN.
Credit ? I would call it a " BRICK WALL" he knows he has to choose one or the other SHOULD he get by Breazeale , and he better sign fast and make sure in a loss to Breazeale theres stipulations that the Joshua fight cannot be breached. If he stays with Showtime he gets moved off PPV and so forth......... Martin Kownacki Ortiz These guys wont be PPV's after the Breazeale fight numbers come in, they know this and so does DAZN . They'll scrape up what they can for him and that's it with Showtime . He cannot survive pressure not unifying without Fury to avoid that, thats why he through a temper tantrum . ESPN cannot throw money at him like DAZN, so we'll see if Finkel bottles his career some more . lol
