Anthony Yarde's bum carousel continues

Lions in the can is so cringe , I hate Yarde just put him in with anyone with a pulse please

 

I am no fan of yarde but thought he looked okay last night, could be stepped up sooner but he had a decent opponent who pulled out. Deffo think he's packing glass

 

His back is suspiciously large I am amazed he can maintain that while doing cardio for 12 round fights.

 

I think the time is coming soon for Yarde to finally step up and fight somebody dangerous. They can't keep ducking and diving and making excuses forever. They are very aware of the criticism they're getting and they're now saying he's ready. Maybe not his next fight, but the one after, I think he'll finally go in against a threat. Lions in the camp.

 

Chump in de owse! He’s getting sparked at headline level so more satisfying for me than getting sparked under the radar.

Hype job. Could have been a real star if promoted properly but now hated by the majority for being a wannabe superstar!

 

The thing I think is look at some of the matchroom prospects, eggington, ritson, belloti, Burnett, all put in real fights all defeated as soon as they stepped up. Yarde is a prospect and I'm not really buying into him at all; but I do understand warren taking his time with yarde. The main problem is that yarde is rated #1 with the wba but his fights do not reflect that.

 

They've now publicly said they'll take the Kovalev fight if it's mandated. They might have backed themselves into a corner now, because if they don't accept it they will be ridiculed. Their extra cautious approach in opponent selection is going to come back to bite them I think. Instead of stepping up gradually to prepare him for a fight against one of the big boys, they might now find themselves going from Travis Reeves level to Kovalev level, which is madness. If I were them, I'd make sure his next fight is a real test, so they can get a better gauge of where he's really at. Right now we still have no idea what his level is and he could find himself in against Kovalev totally unprepared. It's downright dangerous IMO.

 

He’s 6 foot (apparently) and must surely be packing in about 14 stone plus on the scales with all that muscle...how does he get down to light heavy? That to me is a bigger mystery than how Callum Smith gets down to super middle. I’d be fascinated to know what he weighs on fight night.

 

Why you throwing burnetts name in with that group of losers?! He's a unified world champ and only lost with a freak back injury!

I get your point but Burnett was world champion, his only loss has came by way of retirement.

 

Yarde is 100% a prospect but that’s what’s he’s gonna be all his career if he carries on like this. Fwank is always the first to say he gives to the fans and that he matches better than anyone but come on Fwank this is a joke! I understand you need headliners as you’re losing the battle against the opposition but at this rate no one will give a toss if Yarde fights or not as he’s not that explosive and fantastic anyway!

 

Nope, Burnett that got beat by doniare, was unfortunate but I had him losing personally and think it was a body shot that caused the injury. I'm not saying that I'm correct about that, just my opinion. I did back Burnett but would say doniare was going to win by what we did see. He knew too much

 

I've been critical of Yarde lately, but this thread and the overly negative comments from yesterday are becoming a bit sickening now.

It was a good performance against a brave, fairly durable, but average opponent. Reeves looked small for the weight, because he was the same height, but Yarde is built like an armoured tank in comparison.

If you cannot appreciate some of his skills in the ring, such as his use of distance, his left hand leads and pull counters etc then you don't know much about the sport, or your just blinded by hate. I get he and his team are a bit annoying, and need some PR help, but this is a dangerous, hard hitting kid, who fights with patience and has good fundemantal boxing skills. He also clearly got gears to go up also.

Next opponent should be somebody like, Chillemba, Murat, koeling, Barrera, Capperello. I didn't include Burton as I don't think he even in the boxing fully at the moment - If he is, then that would also be a great choice especially for the British public.
