Between the 2 most textbook boxers who do you think possessed the better skills and boxing ability? Who showed less flaws in their style ?

Lopez isn't in Johnson's class as a technician and certainly isn't what i'd call a textbook boxer, but ironically, because he did so little compared to Johnson, Johnson may have demonstrated more flaws.

    McGrain is right.

Lopez is a textbook range boxer-puncher type.

Considering his level of opposition, he's nowhere near proven enough to even be compared to Johnson in my opinion.

Lopez, as good as he was, never attained the level of accomplishment of Johnson.

    Definitely Harold Johnson.

He showed it against the most proven opposition.

    Lopez didn't.

On the eye test there's not much in it, I guess. Both were rock-solid all rounders who could do a bit of everything. Lopez always reminds me a little of Juan Manuel Marquez but with quicker feet thrown in to the bargain. Lopez was maybe the more athletic of the pair and could get around the ring (giggidy) a little better.

However, in this case I have a slight preference for the more economical, smooth style of Johnson. Just such a complete timer at mid-range and so easy on the eye. A technician, but one who didn't have to use all the ring to make the other guy miss.

I know that Charles was just coming down from his prime, and Johnson was just about to ascend to his, but man, I love Johnson's performance against Ezz.

Lopez had little to no inside game
