What if Spence brutalizes and stops Mikey with very little drama? No one's asked this question yet because for many people, it's a forgone conclusion.

Spence has everything to lose nothing to gain.

Top 5 p4p. Garcia is easily on of the top 5 guys in boxing right now. Garcia only gains a belt to be honest, but would have leverage to make fights with Thurman and Crawford. I'd be impressed if Spence just blew Garcia out the water, since based of his past performances I just haven't seen the killer other people are seeing in Spence.

I'm one of the people who rate Spence, but I doubt he blasts Mikey out early. What makes Spence good is that he's a huge 147 who has excellent technical skills, he tends to wear his opponents down rather than blast them out like a killer.

Mikey is not a good style match up for him, as stated by Robert Garcia when explaining why they took the fight after blocking the Cotto fight, but I think Spence will eventually wear him down anyway. What would be most impressive to me is if Spence can outbox Mikey and win without necessarily having to rely on his size advantage. In that case I'd say top 5 p4p, otherwise a normal win would have him at the bottom of the top 10.

I wouldn't say Spence has excellent technical skills, he gets hit way too much for me to label his skillset as excellent... He's good, but its his physicality and size that worries me for mikey in this fight... If Mikey can somehow get Spence's respect with something big early on, I think his chances will increase 2 fold. It's a very intriguing fight and I think Mikey has a very good chance of winning this fight.

I think GGG vs. Brook is a very good barometer of this fight. This site is blind to it, but this fight isn't in any different ballpark than that.

That's exactly what you do to a man stepping up two weight classes. You steam roll him, break his eye socket and dominate. You don't worry about eating some flush punches from a little man. He shouldn't make it outside of the 1H of the fight.

This obviously doesn't hold true if we are talking about truly great boxers who move up two classes. Garcia and Brook are both good fighters, but neither is great. Mikey Garcia was a very talented fighter at 122-130lbs, he could hang with any past great at those weights.

After 3yrs off and fighting at lightweight and above, he is far from truly great.

When Spence destroys Garcia we should treat the victory the same way we did for GGG conquering Brook. Appreciative, thoroughly entertained, and nobody questions their UNCHANGED P4P status. Good stay busy fight.

Does beating somebody moving up in weight do anything for your p4p status? I mean obviously it should lower it if you lose but p4p is about being able to beat opponents larger than yourself, the giving away of weight and reach advantages. Spence is 3.5 inches taller with 4 inches more reach. The only upside in this fight is Mikey's if he wins.

Right up there with Gatti’s KO of Gamache or Mungias KO of Ali, Broner vs demarco or Hopkins vs Hoya ... something like that.

It does nothing for his ranking, obviously.

Straight to No.1. People talking like measurements are 90 percent of the battle.
Mikey, IMO, is the most fundamentally complete boxer in the game today.
If Spence does what you ask, and blasts him out “easily”, he has blown out a man far beyond anyone Loma has even faced.

Nothing changes, if its easy, it'll be because Mikey is too small.

But if its the other way around, Mikey rockets up the standings.
