Errol Spence vs Mikey Garcia - Tall fighters on the outside and short on the inside, right?

watched a few minutes, realized this kid has no idea what hes watching. hope youre not taking his analysis as legit.

 

no he is not. he starts out the whole video by being surprised that spence steps forward with his jab. that alone tells you his understanding of boxing, it just goes downhill from there.

 

we'll see what? what exactly do you think hes right about? condense that video into 1 or 2 sentences so we can at least know what you think he is revealing here.

 

most people see only half the picture. yes, garcia gets hit, infrequently, but it happens. so most people go on that and assume its because of suspect defense. i understand mikeys control of distance, he gets hit because he keeps himself in range to be hit. thats where hes better than you. sure you land the occasional one, but you got to eat 5 to land it and you risk being put to sleep while doing it.
take a look at mikeys footwork in any of the clips. no matter which way the opponent moves, mikey can stay right with him, like a shadow. he will step, slide or skip, just enough to avoid your shot and be in position to come right over and drop you with a counter. he actually works towards keeping himself at a range where he will eventually eat a few, knowing he is better than you in the mixer. the fact that he doesnt get hit more often is a testament to how skilled he is at doing what he does.
im not saying thats the only way mikey can fight, if mikey dont want you to touch him, youre not gonna touch him. he can keep you away almost as good as floyd, and hurt you while hes doing it. watch the salido fight for reference.
so basically, mark, is that what you are going into this fight believing is proof of a weakness in mikey, i saw as proof of his superiority.

 

At the same time, Mikey hasn't faced a fighter with an elite offense.

 

I think that Spence is gonna win this fight but every time I say that, I have visions of Pac knocking out Cotto. I could be wrong. lol.

 

exactly. i posted several times already about how both these guys are going to be put in a position for the first time in their career, where plan A is not working like they designed in the gym, so now what? i said mikeys experience and corner would be the key here. mikey has plan B, C, and will be working on plan D while hes fighting.

 

I truly hope Mikey wins because I would LOVE to see Pacquiao-Garcia.

 

YES! thats how pac should end the most exciting career of the last 20 years, on his shield before the best fighter in the entire world. thats how legends should go out.

Spence is a fighter not a boxer. He comes forward and trades punches with his opponents by moving his head and chin to avoid being hit. Spence is a pressure fighter so he doesn't need to keep Gracia on the outside. That's not his style.
