From the eye test Yarde is streets ahead of Price in ability. Obviously we are yet to see it tested but price always has been very basic and in terms of talent it's like night and day.
How did he get a belt anyway? Seems like they were just giving away a continental belt against a lowlevel journeyman (still his best opponent to date), and then because of him having that belt he would be top10 rated somehow. Possible WBA line of thinking... Peynaud = bum. Benn = bum, also Benn = name, ergo Benn = money. Peynaud vs Benn = for continental belt. Benn UD Peynaud Peynaud = still bum Benn = bum + name + money + belt = top10
They made an application to fight for the continental belt and the WBA agreed to sanction it. There are much better fighters in Europe that simply don't have the backing to buy these minor titles and climb the rankings. The fact is Conor is marketable and sells tickets and that why he is getting the investment.
Really? I disagree. An Olympic medallist who steamrolled his way to the British title and albeit mainly in defeat has fought some solid names along the way. Yarde and his yes men need to step it up now... he's fought nobody in 18 fights and some how has a #1 ranking with the WBO. We need to see him in a meaningful fight.
Of course i wasnt referring to who they though i was taking more from an atheistic pov, as thats all we have to go on with Yarde.
Benn could get a voluntary shot and cash out - might be Hearn's thinking? "DARING TO BE GREAT AND FOLLOW AFTER HIS FATHER, CONNOR BENN CHALLENGES GLOBAL STAR MANNY PACQUIAO AT COWBOY STADIUM FOR THE WBA (REGULAR) WORLD TITLE IN JUST HIS 15TH FIGHT" Imagine.
If you struggle against a (very tough) French journeyman, you should get nowhere near a World title shot. Conor hasn't impressed me so far
Conor is stepping up this weekend inside the top200 no less... http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/741349 Won't surprise me to see Benn struggle or even lose this.
What a joke. Less than a week's notice for the other guy. Shannon Courtney's opp still not decided either yet that trash will be hyped up as well.
