Headlining a card tomorrow in Antonyan's hometown of Barnaul in Siberia, with eight rounds scheduled at light heavyweight. The co-main event will feature Leon's slightly younger & smaller brother in a 6-rounder at super middleweight - and Vladimir Antonovich Antonyan vs. Makhmud Anvarbegovich Musalov might actually be the better and more interesting fight.

Elder brother Leon is facing, on paper, the biggest name of his career (Piternov was a touted domestic prospect once upon a time, capturing the Russian national super middleweight title a decade ago, defending it once, then capturing the light heavyweight version in 2015...but immediately thereafter ran smack into the young & hungry Dmitry Bivol, coming fresh off his pro debut. Bivol smashed Piternov up and sent him into a tailspin of ruination, with the Cossack going just 3-16 in the four years since....) although it arguably is a big step-down in h2h terms from Uzbek southpaw Mirzoxidjon Shuxratbek Ogli Abdullayev, versus whom Antonyan fought to a draw last year. Vladimir would appear to have a tougher assignment in the 4-0 Musalov, who knocked out Gasan Khaibulaevich Gasanov in just his third pro bout...although Musalov would then disappear off the face of earth and for some reason hasn't fought since 2015. :dunno

@Somachenko - hoping you know a thing or two about seeing a thing or two, if you know what I mean. :deal:

Piternov's most recent victory (an upset over a young unbeaten prospect, sandwiched between a 5-loss and his current 6-loss skid...) in September of 2017 versus Alexander Leonidovich Medvedev:

You know what? The more footage I watch, the more I'm convinced the old man actually has a chance to pull this off...

Hell, the brothers could go an embarrassing 0-2 in their own backyard...

Would be great to see but might be asking too much, but he absolutely could out-hustle the kid.

Was looking for info on the card earlier this week but only found a few news articles and no sort of social media from Sibir Promotions, who I’m not sure have streamed or televised any events in the past. I’ll keep you posted if I find anything tomorrow but I don’t think there will be anything. Unfortunate because I agree with you, I think this may be Piternov’s best chance at a win in a while. I’m not huge on Antonyan from what I’ve seen.

I think Vladimir is the better of the brothers, except he is matched pretty tough himself (assuming the rust on Musalov isn't a huge factor...)

I know both Antonyans have been on RCC Promotions shows (and therefore streamed live on YouTube) in the past but this is being put on by some other, small-fry promoter..
