I agree with this. He needs to be put in with various styles to prepare him for the step up in levels and inevitable tricky opponents. A good amateur will have dealt with all kinds of styles...Yarde doesn’t have that education and these beat down opponents aren’t offering it either.
What will Team Yarde's excuse be this time? If he declines Kovalev again, he should be removed from the rankings ASAP. This content is protected
Can't run anymore. I would be shocked if they take the fight. I think they are hoping there is a get out with Kovalev agreeing a unification fight vs Bivol instead. Remember Kovalev is on the slide and his the champion they should want as his a fading fighter but I still don't think they will take the fight.
Yarde will ice this overrated nutcase. Most overrated fighter in history is Kovalev. Who's his best win, Cleverley? Looked awful against Chilemba. Went the distance with a 50 year old. Allegedly should have lost to journeyman Darnell Boone in the first fight after being heavily dropped. Smashed in the gym by a middleweight lol. I can feel that some are frightened of this fight happening because they know deep down Yarde knocks him out.
This forum would go into melt down if they actually took the fight and Yarde won. Thinking about it, Frank would have told his mate at the WBO not to call it if he didn’t want the fight...I think they might just take it.
I don't think the fight will happen but yes it would if Yarde took it and won and all the excuses would come out such as Kovalev is old etc.
Yarde hasn't even fought anyone at domestic level or European level and he is going to jump straight in with a World level fighter? Don't get me wrong I am not complaining as we would finally get to see where Yarde is at talent wise. It's just an unusual route to take to develop a fighter.
Absolutely baffled at some of these boxing accounts on twitter backing him to win. One was claiming that Kovalev is always blowing out of his backside by round 5...really, did they not see how well conditioned he was when he boxed Alvarez’s head off? Don’t get me wrong, i’d be cheering him on hoping he bingo’s Kovalev if he takes the fight. He needs a step up and more variation of styles in his opponents.
BT are already pushing the Kovalev fight on Twitter quite heavily..I know that’s far from a guarantee of anything but they/Frank are digging themselves quite a big hole if they turn it down now.
It's made even odder by the defending of his current opposition as borderline essential, on the basis that he's picking up his lack of amateur experience in the professional ranks. That's fine to an extent; we wouldn't expect a gold medal Olympian and a guy who had a dozen lower level amateur fights to be boxing the same opponents after, say, eight or nine fights. It starts to look weaker when you're still excusing your taxi driver opponents on your amateur record, or lack of, when you've been a pro for four years. But if that is your excuse, how can you justify the jump to Kovalev? Are we really expected to believe that Yarde was such a slow burner that he needed opponents like the ones he's had all the way to now, and then almost overnight it's time to step up about four or five levels immediately?
II hope he doesn't take it. We will never have to hear him shout Lions in the Camp after beating another nobody
