Well Dempsey fought in the black and white film era, so that will make him slower and weaker than the super modern Goliath’s of today. Plus Dempsey really fought at 148 and is basically a blown up Welter. I am not sure he would hit Tua’s hip if he jumped as he punched. My guess is Tua destroys another fighter in nanoseconds
Horrible march up for Dempsey, walking forward against: Baer, Foreman, Liston or Tua, he'd walk into the shots and get KO'ed
Yes of course he would, the only man under 190lbs who could come out victorious against all those is Rocky, because "he would find a way."
Dempsey would be the hardest puncher Tua ever fought (yes harder than Lewis, not quite as hard as Morrison though imo), and all though his chin isn't ibeabuchi-tier, it's rock solid. Not to mention Dempsey has the superior speed and ring generalship. I'd take Dempsey by UD
Dempsey has legs like coiled springs and more competent defense than the whole lot. There's an argument that he hits harder than Baer and Tua as well (one I subscribe to)
Althouhb I’m a fan of Tua this is really a toss up. Prime Dempsey isn’t the same as Dempsey his last three fights which were separated by a few years. Tua has an amazing chin but if he was getting clipped tended to go into a shell. Despite popular belief on this forum he wasn’t an unstoppable tank. Could go either way for me.
Yeah, I don't subscribe to that. I think he's definitely more technical than any of them, but Ortiz is more technical than Wilder. I think it's more hooks, than overhands and jabs that beat Dempsey and I do think he beats Baer (it was a pretty poor example tbh) but stylistically walking into shots against Tua, Foreman or any of the fore mentioned is a death sentence, same with Tyson, Fraizer Patterson or Marciano. I also think Dempsey's power is overrated, his hand speed and accuracy along with good power. Not ATG power like some claim
