Totally agree, in June it will be 2 years since his last fight. There's just no way his skills, hand speed, and reflexes haven't deteriorated somewhat in that time away from boxing. At 35, I hope he stays retired, he will never again be the fighter he once was. He had an amazing career, he retired pretty healthy and he now has a nice gig with ESPN. He's got a long life ahead of him, I would hate to see him do anything to jeopardize that.
Mikey Garcia was inactive for 2 years and came back more dominant than ever and now he's fighting a man that will be a middleweight on fight night. Plus Ward is well-preserved due to his stinking negative spoiler style. Pacquiao was out for a full year after KO6 and came back to pitch shut outs or near shut outs against Rios, Bradley 3, Algieri, Vargas, Broner, and Matthysse. And Pacquiao has a million more miles on the odometer than Ward.
Couldn't agree more. For some reason a lot of posters seem to dislike him and his personality. Ive met him a few times way back when we were younger at some amateur tournaments. I also know two guys that have known him his whole life. I'm telling you, there isn't a genuinely better, nicer, or more good hearted and morally sound guy in boxing than Andre, Danny Jacobs, and Jean Pascal. And he has a beautiful family. One of the few athletes who retired at just the right time and found genuine peace and content away from their sport. I couldn't be happier or more proud of him. Awesome post brother.
Mikey was like 22 yeats old whan that happened and trained and sparred daily. As for Pac -- ATG fighter no question. I'm putting this out there and I don't care who agrees/disagrees or loves/hates it. The guy is a PED monster and has been for a VERY LONG TIME. I'm not just talking mild PED's either, I mean like full blown stacks/cycles. Same with BHOP. You dont hit late 30's and certainly not 40's and maintain the type of athletic ability that they have displayed without being a juiced to the gills lab rat. I'll look at observable evidence such as the fact that he has slowed considerably with a severely decreased workrate. Also, he has been VADA-tested in 5 fights and in each of those contests, has hurt all of them and dropped some of them. Pac had Broner badly hurt and running for survival—something he didn't do with heavier hitters like Maidana, Porter, and Mikey. Your hatred don't bother me none, bro.
