Dempsey hit harder than louis....Dempsey might stop this guy....tua sometimes just didnt let his hands go sometimes in very mportant bouts for some reason and this cost him imo...tua was good though
I don’t see many guys stopping Tua even though I find him overrated among the modernist crowd. I could see a Dempsey decision or Tua stopping jack after 8 or so. The Dempsey decision seems the more likely outcome to me so I will go with that. I do think it would be a good contrast of skill speed and size and should be a fun fight. I can’t envision Tua over 15 rounds so this is over 12 on my card.
Dempsey is a level above Tua and possibly two. Tua did not lose every time he stepped up because he was some invincible wrecking machine. He lost every time he stepped up because he wasn't all that good!
Every single man that you have mentioned in this post, would be too much for Tua. He was not in the same class as any of those men!
I agree he was the worst of those men, but stylistically he was one of the hardest fights in history for Dempsey
It's all a matter of styles and what you bring to the table. Quite a few boxers would probably be able to out-slick (like Byrd) Tua, and much bigger men with both strength and power (e.g. Joshua) could batter him severely… … but I find it unlikely that a 190 pounder could stand toe-to-toe with him in a punch-out, and survive for very long!
You didn't really have to be that slick, that elusive, or even that big, in order to out slick him. this is a very beatable fighter.
I am not sure that I would agree. Dynamite punchers with good chins are dime a dozen in boxing history. These attributes will not in themselves get you success at the very highest level.
Ahh I agree that you need more than a Punch and a chin to be an ATG. However in this match up with Dempsey springing in and loving to trade he'd have to open up to Tua's left hook which could probably KO a large bull. If Dempsey darted in and out he'd still be open for a few seconds every 30 or so, that's pretty good odds for Tua KO, plus both were good finishers, if Tua or Dempsey had you hurt they'd most likely find the KO. In short, I think Tua wins by KO due to Dempsey's offensive style
Hard to be sure. He sometimes went in for the kill, and he sometimes played it cool. In a fight between to offensive come forward fighters, a better defense can sometimes be a decisive factor.
