I think its quite obvious that Garcia is the most shrewd and frustratingly difficult to deal with businessman. As evidenced by his poorer resume, contract disputes and moving up in weight to fight Spence when better fights on paper are at 135 and 140.

And the OP left out a glaring omission. Loma was scheduled to unify, but the opponent pulled out. Crolla is a replacement.

then waited for him to come back at him, and loma wanted him to wait till he felt comfortable with his shoulder. mikey would still be on a bench waiting for loma instead taking a shot at p4p #1 status in a ppv fight that is paying him more than a loma fight would. but hes scared of loma, smdh.

 

I'm Team Mikey and will be rooting for him this weekend, but the guy wanted no part of Lomachenko. I think Mikey has avoided certain fighters. Mainly speedsters with skill. If Mikey truly wanted greatness, he would have stayed at TR and gotten shots at Pacquiao, Lomachenko, and Crawford. Wins over these three are greater than any combination of Spence and PBC welters.

He walked away from Linares (a speedster w/ a high level of skill) and Cotto (excellent boxer and smaller than Spence). And then there was Gamboa.

It's like Khan fighting Canelo and Crawford, but the guy is absolutely TERRIFIED of losing to Brook.

 

He's not, he's just not playing those weak arse games with Lomo and Arum. Mikey is daring to be great, while Lomo says Crawford is much to big, that is career suicide. Where are the balls?

You talk about resume like it is relevant. It is not.

When Loma was at 130, Loma used to call out Mikey regularly. Mikey used to say, “Loma needs to come up to 135 and win a couple belts, then I will fight him there.” Now that Loma is at 135 and has two belts, Mikey will fight anywhere BUT at 135. Mikey’s best weight is 135. Robert Garcia says, “Loma’s manager calls me every week asking, when can we make the fight.” But Mikey says, “Loma doesn’t want the fight. His people never call.”

You will see. Spence is going to body Mikey, and then Mikey will go down to 140, a weight that is still too big for him, and scour the earth for no hopers like Broner. Even though he is a weight class bigger than Loma, Mikey wants no part of him.

 

you seem to be stuck on the idea that fights are made solely on whether fighters are scared or not? mikey is all business, inside and outside the ring. he went to lomas dressing room to look the man in his eye, and tell him, with a gentlemans respect, "i want to fight you". arum has admittedly never pursued a fight between the 2 fighters. after, mikey is on tape looking the man in the eye while asking for a fight. why do you think that is?

 

The idea that Mikey’s ducking Loma to fight Spence is just fanboy dribble, Arum’s expressed zero interest and might not even make the fight. I mean they wouldn’t even fight Pac. Mikey wants the best fights and paydays he can get while he’s still prime, win, lose or draw against Spence you can be damn sure he’ll still want that Loma money.

 

Mikey is used to higher paydays. Arum will not offer him enough money to fight Loma. In Garcias mind Arum cant offee enough reward for his risk.

Spence is a more dangerous fight for Garcia than Loma as far as health and winning the fight go. But Loma is more risky to his repuatation and legacy as a fighter.

Loma wants to fight Mikey. And he is not demanding a huge purse like Mikey.

I will say that that Lomas shoulder injury offers a somewhat decent alibi for Garcia. You cant just wait around for a fight that may not happen until Lomas shoulder heals. Which could mean some tune ups with B level guys before taking on a p4p guy like Mikey.

 

Because Arum doesnt want to pay Mikey the money that Mikey wants. So Mikey will not sign the contract until hes satisfied with the incoming check.
