Richard Schaefer says Mikey vs Spence trending towards 1M Mil PPV buys... How much does it sale?

This fight will do really well. Fox has advertised the **** out of it.

I forgot about the Martinez-Jr. fight. That thing was a massive Box Office hit.
But besides that, there isn't much there as you pointed out. Especially in the recent decade or so.
400k would be a massive success, but as I stated before; I highly doubt it happens. They just aren't big enough draws on regular SHO.

 

Yeah, and that was with Floyd.
Canelo's next two PPV's did over 300k.
Canelo and Cotto together couldn't crack 1mil. But Spence and Garcia will do it in their first try?

Well, ticket sales don't necessarily convert into PPV buys number directly but it shows a trend nevertheless, I think. So, maybe it will be even more than 500k. Still, 1m seems to be quite unrealistic.

 

You could be right but I am getting different vibes from people up north and in the Midwest. I myself hope that it becomes a blockbuster and do a million or more. Boxing needs more really big stars and big fights other than the usual.

 

and i hope the loser has another ppv fight right after, they both deserve it, their talent is worth it and the competition is there. that way we can get back to when a loss just meant a champion got a chance to overcome that last hurdle again, and show how champions find a way to not be denied. boxing was much better back then.

How the hell does a guy like Wilder deserve 100 million for 3 fights??? He cant even sell out an arena in his unknown american hamlet.Nobody outside the states has ever heard of him. He doesnt have neither the charisma nor the education to be a global star.DAZN and Eddy are doing a terrible job burning money for fighters who will never be national , let alone international stars.

 

I hope so but Schaefer chats **** so it's difficult to take him seriously.

 

I think common sense says this PPV will be around 250,000 buys. There's currently only 1 boxer that could pull in a million
(and thankfully he's now a subscription fighter). PPV is going to go the way of the dinosaur.

 

Schaefer said Wilder/Fury could do 1 mill PPV buys too and it did 325K, so you can't take what he says seriously. He's just trying to build the hype around the fight by inflating expectations.

I think it's a good fight and unlike Wilder/Fury in a location that makes sense and been promoted better from what I hear so I think it will do 300-400K, anything above that would be a resounding success.
