He said on the JRE podcast that he would never fight Usyk. There is no point to it. I think Pavlik will start small and see where things go. It's not like he has to fight at world level.
God I hope not, I personally really like Kelly, he's one of the good guys in this sport. I was huge fan of his in the ring and have zero desire to see him risk his health any more. He's finally got his life on track, seemingly stopped drinking, got his demons under control, and has a decent podcast, there's no point in returning to the ring. He should try to hook up with PBC or DAZN and get a gig as a commentator. I think he'd really excel at that.
aah, didnt know that. any fighter with good movement will probably beat his ass, but i think he will have the power, even at 200, to ko anyone he catches clean. especially after robert trims the fat off his already heavy handed technique.
yea I agree I like his insight in the few vids out there of him talking boxing. he didnt look great in his previous comeback attempt but seems to take care of himself and has all of his faculties. i really liked the ring article about the story of him and taylor and their rises and falls i still watch both their fights and the countdown episodes on HBO were some of the best build up work to a big fight and put most 24-7 episodes to shame
Nah. Movement, schmovement. The only guy with elite footwork at 200lb is Usyk. But Pavlik is 36, so there isn't really a point in going after anyone in the top 10. He should just start off small and work his way up to a few good fights. Pavlik had his day and there is nothing wrong with being just a prizefighter. And hey! If he finally feels like he wants to give it another go, well **** it! Give it one more go ala Bellew vs Usyk. But there is no point in going after the top if you are not truly motivated to do so. And I highly doubt current Pavlik would find it in him to go through what Taylor did to him in round 2. There is no point to it.

Cruiserweight is where he could build something as there are not a great deal of big challengers in the division. He is only 36 and if he has 3 or 4 fights in him I think he could go for it. It's a tough one as he has got out with his health and he should stay out... but if he was going to make a comeback 4 fight plan would be the way to go. A 6-8 rounder against a journeyman. Then a fight with Scott Sigmon somebody he previously destroyed who now fights at Cruiserweight to see where he is at. If he demolishes him then a top 15 fight against someone like Mike Wilson and then finally he probably would be in a position for a title shot based on a ranking and name value against the older Lebedev or Tabiti or someone. If he wins great if he doesnt he gave it a go.
thats right. he already has a strong trusting relationship with a hof trainer in his prime. if he can pull it off, win or lose in his title shot, he still adds millions to his piggy bank, in his little run. thats nothing to roll your eyes at, and you know he misses the competition and limelight.
