100%. i think promoters have their place, but once a fighter gets to headliner status, he should start receiving a more equatable reward for his talent and hard work up to this point. after all, if a fighter gets to that level, the promoter has already made plenty of money off of him. promoters do not lose money.

Garcia is merely "good?" Hit some AA meetings brother and start working the steps and then come back and post. Too many casuals and posters here underestimate Mikey for the same reasons and same way some underestimated GGG and some underestimate Errol Spence Jr. Those three don't have the athletic flash that a fighter like Loma has. What they do and what they're great at doesn't jump off the screen at you. It's the guys who have actually trained, boxed, and competed for quite some time that truly see how special and great those fighters are. It takes experience (and a lot of it) in the sport which comes along with a meticulous eye for subtle skills, talent, and intelligence to truly appreciate those three fighters and to truly know how great they really are.

Mikey has been outspoken about Spence for quite a while now, long before the fight was made. He then called him out live whilst Spence was commentating his fight. After the fight was given the go ahead he has also been livid about his belief in himself beating Spence which has put the whole boxing world on notice. There is a ton of buzz surrounding this fight because of the way Mikey handled everything.

Mikey's pride is on the line more than ever in this fight, and If you think his reputation won't be on the line if he gets KO'ed or stopped badly in this fight then you're sorely mistaken. I told you so's will be circling the boxing world all over if he loses in embarrassing fashion, and many boxing fans will laugh at the outcome if it goes down like that. Look what happened to Rigo after all that talk and then losing the way he did. He had to crawl into a cave and go into hibernation.

On top of that, if Mikey loses and takes a career beating making it to the 12th round, he will most likely struggle to go down to 135 and have limited options at 140. This means that he might decide to stay at 147 and rack up more losses completely ruining his career and legacy. Look at Kell Brook's now, his legacy is done and many question marks will be left unanswered as to what he would have been capable of had he not fought GGG.

Great post that needs pinning for when folk call any boxer a coward ect.
I get the same feeling from Usyk and Lomo, both come across as honest guys and I could imagine both guys not wanting any help from the venue and judges.
Only reason Canelo gets the stick he does is because of such one sided scorecards when he doesn't need any help as he's good enough.
In light of what happened to Stevenson you can't pay these guys enough imo and even then all the money in the world would not make up for that.

totally agree I was very vocal about Brook and thought he was avoiding folk despite Hearn saying nobody wanted him at welter. In hindsight he should of made the fight with Vargas and who knows without the physical and mental scars from GGG he could well of beaten Spence or got the draw.Still that fight with Spence is an absolute classic imo.
hope it's not one of those end of career moments similar to Bellew taking on Usyk?

I can't say Garcia is ducking or not ducking Loma. There're several things to consider here, such as his weight management and his future plan. As far as I know, Mikey's weight so far has been out of the range that acceptable to go down below 135 for some times already. He might have successfully went down against Robert Easter Jr., but he actually went through hell to achieve it. And Easter Jr. is definitely not in the same level and as risky as Loma. Secondly, it's about his future plan. Does Mikey still want to keep his 135 lbs WBC belt ? If he isn't interested to fight in that weight class anymore, well maybe you are right that he is not ducking, it's just he can't fight Loma anymore since his body is no longer allowing him to fight in his best condition in that weight category.

I won't deny that at current state Loma has more advantage than Mikey. Loma can still go down even as low as 130 lbs while Mikey has been having hard time make it to 135. So in that regard, facing Loma can be as risky and dangerous as facing Spence. Because fighting in the defense of his lightweight title would deplete him, especially after Spence fight. Loma himself has stated that he is still interested to fight Mikey even when he loses against Spence and doesn't have the title, it shows that Loma's confidence of fighting him under lightweight class.

And Mikey likely moves back down to 140, which is notorious for weak champions.
Prograis and Taylor are legit, but how long til they both move up? They are the only two dangerous guys at 140 for Mikey.

    Spence will starch Mikey :boxing1

Bandeedo... but are you going to say that you cant see where that point of view is coming from?

Do you not see how a fighter can feel more comfortable in a 'win win' situation that Garcia is in right now against a guy everyone expects to best him than against a guy smaller than him?

Just curious as to your take.

naah, kirk, it aint his analysis i have a problem with, its his constant use of racial slurs in his posts. i posted the last 8 posts hes made, the very last 8, and its nothing but stuff that has no place in an internet boxing forum. that belongs where youre looking the man in the eye when you say it.
as far as the analysis, the "safe" way mikey is picking fights, did not end well for brooke, rigo, khan, etc... so this no mulligan. can any serious boxing fan really believe mikey is scared to fight loma? not if hes really knowledgeable about the facts.

I just have to add that Spence's whole resume and aura is built upon GGG's leftovers ironically. Spence is the one who gained the most from Brook vs GGG.
