Actually, the judges had it closer than the consensus of ringside observers. You are actually the first person I have ever heard say they had Duran ahead.
The thread title should really be fighters that were ahead after 12 rounds that lost a 15 rd fight. I say this because they would not have necessarily won if the fight was scheduled for 12 rnds. Knowing the 12 round scheduled distance could have caused both fighters to fight differently than a scheduled 15 rounder.
Referee: Dick Young 142-144 Judge: Harry Gibbs 144-145 Judge: Seiji Ebine 141-149 Ken Buchanan v Ishimatsu Suzuki (Guts Suzuki) These were the official scores after 15 rounds. Suzuki went all kamikaze on Buchanan in the last 4 rounds, which appears to have won him the fight. Without him winning rounds 13, 14 and 15, Buchanan wins a split decision after 12 rounds.
Albert Davila was possibly ahead of Lupe Pintor in their second fight and interestingly had beat him over 10 in an earlier fight.
A famous, but now forgotten fight Lamotta wins LATE !!! 1950-09-13 : Jake LaMotta 159¾ lbs beat Laurent Dauthuille 160 lbs by KO at 2:47 in round 15 of 15 Location: Olympia Stadium, Detroit, Michigan, USA Referee: Lou Handler Judges' scores at the time of the knockout: 72-68, 74-66, 71-69 (all for Dauthuille) World Middleweight Title Named The Ring Fight of the Year for 1950 Photo #2, Poster "All Dauthuille required when the bell sounded for the final round was to play safe, and had he boxed he would have come through triumphantly." It was a good fight for the first eleven rounds, but full of drama and excitement in the last four. The full account of the fight is in The Ring, November 1950, pages 8-9, 50. Gomez-Lockridge counts as well. Gomez pulled it out on the judges cards over the last three. Officially anyway.
His take is more outlandish than anything I've ever seen in this forum from an SRL backer. And like I've said before, I think the crazy SRL fans you often mention don't really exist. The Duran fanboys, on the other hand...
It may have been the most impressive in terms of what he was up against but it was far from his best performance, he was awesome v Leonard in Montreal.
