Comcast is a billion dollar corporation who can provide Sky with the financial power to defend themselves from the inevitable attack from the streaming services. Sky Sports will be under attack from DAZN/Amazon/Eleven Sports and Sky’s Movie and Entertainment side will be under threat from Netflix.

    Sky’s broadband and te

Always said it was stupid having one promoter exclusively working with Sky. All it did was allow him to have zero competition and therefore serve us shite, and let’s be honest, there’s been at least as much shite as threrebhas been good stuff from Hearn. The last few years anything half decent has been PPV and free shows have gotten worse.

However, I didn’t see the exclusive deal ending up like this. It’s a real shame for the fans.

Mad to think it’s got this way so fast. Joshua was supposed to fight Whyte or someone as part of that 2/3 fight Wembley deal next month. I know that fight couldn’t be made but how come AJ still didn’t have to fight there?

Makes me laugh how people say Hearn improved Boxing. I loved the Haye, Hatton and Calzaghe era. Friday Fight Nights were fine to me. Loads of wars and exciting fights. I liked that era.

Whilst they were indeed in some decent fights I defy anyone to look at the careers of Calzaghe and Hatton up to the Lacy/Tszyu fights and think that would get a pass today.

Hatton had about thirty-odd fights of largely mediocrity, and Calzaghe spent close to a decade fighting nobody better than Robin Reid whilst talking about (but never delivering) Bernard Hopkins and Glen Johnson after every fight. And what happened when they did become really big? Hatton went straight to America so all his biggest fights were PPV middle of the night jobs, and Calzaghe had one super fight over here before he went over as well.

If there's one thing that's changed recently it's the clear desire by some to move away from building fighters so slowly. If Hearn had a Calzaghe to promote and was delivering Ashira, Mkrtchyan, Salem, Pudwill, McIntyre, Sobot, Manfredo and so on type boxers as opponents he'd be getting absolutely and rightly slaughtered. Those fights were not fun; they were just walk in the park boring mismatches.

Twitter isn't spending millions on rights though, they're not gambling massive amounts of money trying to attract subscribers. Twitter's main income source is adverts, the users get to use the service for free and as long as they keep using it the advert money will come in. DAZN on the other hand are playing massive high stakes poker betting massive sums on return massive sums that I'm not sure is a viable market at the minute they are losing tremndous sums and playing the long game but a can they sustain that long, will the long game even work

Sky really need to go back to how they used to do things with a number of different promoters getting dates. They need to get some Friday Fight Nights like they used to. Plenty promoters out there working hard who could do the job and make for better variety for fans -- all these fight nights in USA isnt good for building a fanbase for boxing in the uk.

Sky are so far ahead of itv / bt that they can stay ahead if they change things up. AS should focus on this and NOT other sports -- comes across desperate AF here

I would like to see Josh Taylor on sky sports. If they are going to accept all the good fights on dazn and PPV then I could get rid of sky sports. They have lost the champions league and a lot of good premier league games are on bt.

Agreed plus the Amazon stuff is bollocks. Jeff Bezos was a billionaire by 1999, literally a few years after Amazon started.
