5.Henry Cooper 2.Joe Fraizer 1.Tommy Morrison 3.Bob Foster "I know bit of a stretch awful at heavyweight" 4.Gerry Cooney My order 1 being the best lol
Ahh, that's cool, I just feel they proved there left hooks against better people than some of your picks, Cooney for example.
Yes i always bang on about Cooney not beating anyone much. I think there's some evidence tho in how he was beating people. To go deeper what examples would you put forward of Lewis for instance putting people down with a left hook?
Tua, Morrison, Tyson, Ruddock and Cooney were undoubtedly huge left hook punchers. After that it gets a bit foggy. Quite a few of the 90s guys had huge left hooks, guys like Lionel Butler who flatlined a number of decent opponents with single shots. Lamon Brewster also had a massive left hook which he wound up on like crazy; numerous opponents and sparring partners claimed his left hook was a killer. Right now, and maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit, but Dillian Whyte's hook looks like it carries major power. Knockouts of Chisora and Browne aside, the fact that he was able to drop Joseph Parker like that speaks volumes enough.
Bert Cooper's another 90s guy with massive power. Squat, powerful and got everything into it. Might be interesting to do a thread on best left hookers of just the 90s, because the era seemed loaded with them.
