Weight classes exist for a reason. That's why Mikey lost.

No. Mikey lost because he wasn't the next level fighter that he had us believing he was.

No need. We should all know why Weight classes exist.

Of course, which is why I went with Spence without hesitation when the match was announced. But couldn't resist the temptation to play the Devil's advocate on this one, it wore me down and got to me.:D

I expected this type of fight but as a boxing fanI still felt disappointed neither took many risks.

Yeah, same here. Mikey really let me down, he was somewhat effective when he'd let his hands go and try to walk Errol down, but he didn't like putting himself in harm's way and losing a decision but not getting KO'd meant more to him than risking a KO loss while giving his all for a chance at glory.

I'm not mad a Mikey. He made bank tonight.

But this fight was still a scam. I wouldn't doubt Haymon asked or told Spence to win but not hurt Mikey.

I wouldn't doubt it either, but he certainly didn't seem like he was following the plan in the last 4 or 5 rounds.

He was shooting off more frequently in the last three rounds, but I didn't see any fire behind his combos. He had that demeanor that said "Don't worry Mikey, it's part of the show, you'll be good". Lol

Or maybe in the last third of a match, his punches lose steam. Thankfully he cracked Kell's eyebone in the 7th IIRC, and he had that as a target to tee off on. Bt... its a possibility, that being said, its not a good look him going the distance with a guy that everyone sad he violently KO. And yeah, that opens me up to a GGG bashing counter from you.:sisi1

    That's a possibility I suppose.

Spence fought every round the same. Throwing one punch at a time for the most part. In the last rounds he opens up more but doesn't throw with much conviction.

Haymon orders these guys around. He still needs a healthy Mikey, and now Spence is a little more popular with the Mexicans.

Spence outboxed him, he didn’t outsize him. Mikey was plodding and slow against a guy he should’ve had an advantage against in those areas.

Size clearly was a factor, while you do get fighters like Duran and Pac who can move up above their natural weights and beat much bigger men, they are the exception not the rule.

Spence moves in straight lines he usually evades a shot by stepping back or leaning back, against a taller fighter with a decent reach that method of defence is less effective against someone like Garcia who'd always be reaching in to land that was going to be hard to overcome unless he changed how he fought and become more a pressure fighter who could get inside and stay inside or become a defensive wizard who can make the taller fighter reach in and give up their reach advantage.
