you love posting videos of guys that don't know what they are even talking about... I've noticed that a lot lately.
This. Mikey kept waiting too long to punch when Spence was in range. The few times Mikey would parry the jab and immediately go over Spence’s jab he had success, but after the first two rounds of playing it safe Spence realized Mikey wasn’t going to let his hands go and started taking the initiative and kept making Mikey restart by beating him to the punch.
JMM got hit far less and Floyd`s defense was far better than Errol`s against Garcia, Mikey wouldn`t have landed a punch on Floyd at welter.
Maybe but why didn`t Garcia try to get his orthodox lead foot outside`s Errol`s lead foot at all? His footwork was lousey, Hatton`s quick feet gave him much more success v the bigger Floyd when they fought early on in their bout, Hatton would have beaten Garcia at welter I feel, his body looked more trim at that weight, Garcia`s body looked dreadful.
Showed up lumbering and heavy. No speed to react or even lead with, mikey normally glides across the ring with his one two, not only was he flat and heavy on his feet it also seemed the muscles he gained were slowtwitch because he sinply couldnt snap any punch out. Reason he was looking to fight upclose, takes less athleticism to throw those punches, but he was still too slow. I've seen this once before with a fighter that moved up and showed up too heavy to pull off the counters/moves he normally does, but I cant remember the name.
The main problem is that he kept coming straight on. I thought Mikey would be able to adapt but it seems he only has one way. He had to use angles to get around the jab and make it awkward for Spence. The other thing was the lack of volume. He needed to throw so much more. Just a simple jab, even if he was countered would have been far more useful. He needed to use the jab to reset Spence, but instead he let Spence come onto him and kept things way too simple. I said beforehand that Spence is simple, and he enjoys a simple fight. Mikey handed it to him in that sense. Yes there was a clear height and reach gap, but I still feel Mikey could have done more. As I said, Spence loves simple. You stand in front of him straight on and keep it all basic and Spence will eat you for breakfast. He had to use angles.
That guy doesnt know what he's talking about most of the time, I watched most of his videos and he harps on about non issues and tells you obvious things. Let me guess, he says mikey only fights off timing, he wont throw a punch unless the timing it right. Right? Every fighter fights off timing, and if it isnt there they dont punch, why we get older fighters who cant pull the trigger, or in mikey's case a guy too heavy and slow that the timing keeps passing him by without him being able to capitalize it.
