I hope the defeat, and the manner of it hasn't affected Mikey's self belief and confidence, that is part of his appeal IMO, he genuinely wants to challenge himself and prove he's the best. I hope he can get back to winning ways and be in big fights at his own weight. I'd still love to see Mikey-Loma, or if he's going to 140 then Mikey vs the winner of the WBSS would be brilliant too. I wouldn't begrudge him a tune up sort of a fight first either.
IB was laughable in the main RBR with his bias just because his pick Garcia was getting annihilated, trying to argue Garcia was 3-0 up. Not tagging him because I’ll get banned if he sees this. Why can’t people score without bias?
Garcia is still a P4P top 10 fighter for me. 4 weight world champion who dared to push/challenge himself against an opponent who was way too big for him. I don’t think we should judge his credentials on a fight against Spence. He simply couldn’t get near him, Spence was hammering him with the jab and did not allow Garcia to fashion any decent openings. Even when he did catch him, there wasn’t the power to hurt him. I think it was 9th or 10th round when Spence’s corner told him to march Garcia down and he did just that & brutally, too. Garcia had already been dismantled by then and Mikey’s corner or even the ref should have stopped it. Spence is a top P4P fighter for me, too, but he needs to stop faffing about with lads from lower weight classes and pensioners like Pac, and fight a Porter, Thurman or Crawford.
Can’t remember now but was it something like 8 punches landed in the first 3 rounds from Garcia? Probably the best shot too but it was clear he lost every single round. IB then went off after 3 rounds to score a different card instead haha.
He said before the fight started that he was picking Garcia to school Spence because he picks the “boxer over the athlete” or some pish like that, which is a bizarre comment in itself because as far as I’m concerned Spence has more than Mikey in his locker technically. There’s also not a chance he stopped watching that fight. Which hardcore boxing fanatic is going to turn that off after round 3? Your scoring was decent in that RBR I thought CTS80 had it just about the same as I saw it. But it wasn’t even hard to score lmao. I usually like the RBRs but can’t stand it when people let biases dictate their scoring and descend into name calling and insults mid fight so I just switched off from the forum early on and enjoyed the fight.
Called this one totally wrong. Gutted for Garcia; fights like that take time away from a fighter’s career. Props to Spence, I was unconvinced but he’s the real deal
That's why I largely just stick to the British section of this forum now. Once I entered the X-lounge section of this forum I found out that most the posters in the general are supremacists from both sides of the spectrum. They pick who is going to win based on race not skill. I don't know if that's the reason for IB, but that scoring is horrendous.
He’ll never be the same again. Said this as soon as the fight was announced. He’s had a lot of fights already and he got absolutely battered there. Round 9 I think was arguably a 10-8. It was similar to the final and penultimate rounds between GGG and Brook. Garcia will go back down to LW or JWW weaker and worn down. He has one hell of a chin and ridiculous endurance though, earned every cent in there.
Going on there was a massive red pill. I remember you and I chatting about it at the time a few months back. I had a very lively "exchange" with one of the most virulent of the x-forum hate mob when I first joined here. I knew within reading 10 of his posts what he was all about and of course he denied it....he PM'ed me and tried and failed to get me to call him some insult. Little did he know I was well aware of the mods ability to read PM's so didn't take the bait. When I looked in on that place, it was laid bare, everything I accused him of and more.
