Would Cotto have beaten Mikey?

Cotto arguably beat Canelo. Had cotto had Canelo judges he would have won that fight and nobody would be questioning it, or if they did they’ll get over it because it was close enough. And that was a past it shot cotto.

Cotto spence would be a war but cotto hits harder, Spence never ktfo fighters the way cotto did.

 

To be honest, JMM would have punished the hell out of Spence. That was what I was waiting for from Mikey—to show that next level counterpunching. Mikey's basic 1-2s just aren't effective in warding off swarmers. JMM would fire back 4-6 combos of hard punishing shots.

I think Cotto has more power tan Mikey but is not as good defensively. I think Mikey wins a decision over Cotto.

 

Yeah ok, the same Marquez that was beaten soundly by little Tim Bradley right. Bradley use his superior athleticism to out maneuver and outbox Marquez. You bias haters just won't let up. First spence was jus a one dimensional come forward fighter that wasn't as good of a boxer as the golden child mikey Garcia.....THEN Spence shows his superior boxing ability over Garcia and you STILL have discredit and criticize him. Technical boxers are great but when you combine technical skill with athletic ability and ring smarts you have a truly talented BEAST on your hands...Spence. Marquez firing "4-6 combos" only opens him up to counters from Spence and we all know that Marquez wasn't as strong or had a better chin than Mikey Garcia. So Please stop with idiotic ideologies that Spence would not beat Marquez. Also he chops up Margarito as well.

 

Oh come on, Spence is a very good fighter but his performance and win last night is getting a tad overrated IMO, he's a MASSIVE WW and could probably make MW without much trouble and Garcia's a natural SFW-LW, it's a bit disappointing that he couldn't put him away IMO. it's it's too soon to start comparing him to these sort of fighters

 

what sort of fighters? spence is arguably the best 147 lb fighter in the world, something none of those guys ever became.

Sure. But the version of Cotto that Mikey would have faced was the one who lost abjectly to Sadam Ali.

Cotto would've dominated Mikey. Cotto on top of the physical advantages was also simply put a better boxer than Mikey.

 

The 140 Cotto who got dropped by Torres and stunned by Demarcus Corely. I could see Mikey's punches having effect on Cotto.

I would favor Cotto to win though and possibly by stoppage. He was a destructive puncher at 140

Garcia actually turned down Cotto.
It was a multiple fight contract I believe
