Would be a brilliant fight at 168lbs, two tall hard punching fighters who like to pressure there opponents constantly. Benavidez is extremely talented with rapid handspeed and great defence in the pocket, Smith is a monster at 168 with an iron chin and game changing power. Thats the fight at SMW for sure.
Man I hate situations like this when you like 2 fighters so much you hate to see one lose to the other. huge fan of both of these fighters Benavidez is a special fighter believe he will take over the super middleweight landscape in the near future if the fights get made!
What a fight! I don’t like the division as it just really lacks depth but these 2 are good. I really like Smith and don’t think he gets beaten at 168 but I’ve seen other people online say the same about DB! Really hope this fight gets made at some point in the future for a unification.
I like plant, very slick and I’d cheer him on every time with all the bad **** that’s happened to him. I just don’t see him on the level of smith and Benavidez though, I think they’re out clear. In my opinion, there’s 4 decent champions (once Benavidez gets his belt back) and that’s it - they need to be fighting each other.
I actually have Smith winning this handily, not that competitive. Benavidez really impressed me against Love but tbf it was only Love. Benavidez vs Plant is a mouth watering 50/50 match up I can't predict. Before the love fight I would have predicted Plant by some distance. Now I think Benavidez has his man strength and just needs the polish to be a beast. Plant dominated Uzcategui but Benavidez has more tools, a lot more of a threat. Uzcategui is pretty plodding tbh, he is a tough customer though and brings very good pressure. Benavidez is a quicker and stronger version. Benavidez throws rapid fire combinations. Neither are very defensively aware though and Plant is a high level operator that will be hard to catch up to. I fancy Benavidez to have a good crack at it. Benavidez does seem reluctant to take the fight though. He will still have the WBC belt opportunity if he beats Plant. Plant has been talking a lot of smack about Benavidez and wanting him next. Benavidez is looking in the opposite direction!!
I’m very weary of plant’s stamina which puts me off him a bit. He really slowed down in the Uzcat fight but showed he has a chin. I personally think Smith stops him late and Benavidez wins by UD close but clear. I wish Plant absolutely nothing but the best though , really hope he does good things!
Started brilliantly, had Uzcat down twice early on and then really slowed down. In Plant’s defence, he was coming from a year off because of his hand injuries and hasn’t had that many rounds anyway. But issues like that will stop him from beating the likes of smith and Benavidez, needs work.
