Remember when you all were hyping Hughie fury as the next big thing.... funny how that turned out. Because of one slick KO over sexton everyone got their panties in a twist.

Now behold, Gorman is the next big thing. Rinse repeat.

Well Dubois has way more potential.

To be fair, H Fury is only 24 and is operating at a high level for his years. He hasn’t physically matured yet and he’s about 6-10 years from his peak. He could yet to turn out to be a big name in the division.

Gorman is clearly very skilful, really good shot variety and fundamentals to build on. Again, he’s only 22. He’s a baby in heavyweight years. Same with Dubois who I don’t believe has the same skill but carries more power. All 3 could go on to do something but it’s too early to tell, yet.

Remember when Warren said these two could have a stadium fight this year?

In all reality it shouldn't even be a ppv this year.

Gorman isn’t the next big thing but as it stands he’s shown a lot more than Dubois in terms of skill with Dubois being obviously the more powerful. Dubois needs to show a bit more variation and put some combos together. I don’t think any of them will go on to dominate the division but as @Twentyman says they’re all still very young with a lot of developing to do.

Ok but Dubois is putting guys out faster,

2 rounds for Cojanu, that is already Ortiz level threat. Cojanu had a full camp for that one, said he felt great prior to the fight.

Gorman is plodding away at opponents, so who is the real threat here?

Dubois has ample amateur pedigree, it is just his style that he doesn't put punches together like Gorman.... but he has sound technical ability. He is closer to knocking on the door of the top 15 and causing the more problems than Gorman,

I dont think anybody is saying Gorman is the next big thing. You can rate somebody as a good prospect without meaning they will take over the world!

Personally i think Gorman gets a little overhyped as he is better than we expected, he seemed to be getting groomed to give Dubois a bit of a breakout fight and now he looks a bit better than just that.

Its a good match up for both at this stage of their career. Whats interesting is their difference in mentality towards each other, Gorman seems fixated on Dubois, where Dubois seems to be looking ahead and Gorman is just another obstacle in his way.

Tyson Fury went 12 with Pianetta, Kevin Johnson stopped him. Whos the real threat? It’s not that simple is it? Dubois has power, I don’t doubt that but as an all round boxer he doesn’t look great, YET.

Yeah and as we can see power is something that is needed in the division today if you want to leave a mark, or get anywhere near contender status, unless you are Tyson Fury. I said that way from the beginning that becase Hughie is a smaller version like a 'Tyson Light' he won't have the same success with this style and attributes.

You don't just become a power puncher over your career, you kinda have it or you don't.

I agree styles make fights, but Dubois is packing more stopping power and that's going to mean a lot more as Wilder has already set the record straight... 95 Kilo skinny low skilled fighter with a hell of a punch taking him far.

    I was simply saying:

Gorman 15th fight Cojanu = 12 rounds UD
Dubois 10th fight Cojanu = 2nd Round KO

Whilst that's true I think it's important to remember Hughie has been a pro for ages. I think he'd be showing a lot more than he is by now if he was really going to make it to the very top.

Also, whilst 24 is young for a heavyweight boxer, it's not that young, and surely he's 'physically matured' by now?

The issue with Hughie is that all of the intangibles that make a great boxer, and cannot be trained or learnt are what he is lacking....

Killer instinct (nastiness), Aggression and natural punching power.

On the way up Tyson Fury may have been as sloppy as hell, but he always had those 3 key attributes. This is the reason why no matter how old Hughie gets he isnt going to improve. He lacks what doesnt improve with age or additional training. You could only estimate he may gain some additional punching power, but as he is lacking in the other 2 its over for him...

Already, Daniel Dubois has shown he has that natural killer instinct, aggression and punching power. That is why Daniel should all other things being equal achieve far more than Hughie ever will. The potential of Daniel Dubois is far higher because he has those intangibles that you cannot train.

Nathan Gorman looks like he will make a good career for himself, but his potential maxmimum level is less than Daniel Dubois.

Gorman vs the Allen/Browne winner would be good. Meanwhile let’s get price and Hughes in together

Not necessarily. Every fighter has their own development trajectory. Blokes physically mature in their late 20’s, early 30’s when they naturally fill out a bit...and we see fighters who have been boiling themselves down to the same weigh class for 10 years get ruthlessly exposed.

Hughie Fury might go on and achieve very little in his career but at 24 he’s already fought in 2 huge fights and the experience gained from that will help him up going forwards.
