I know this will ring controversial, and I know many will make articulate disagreements and articulate them convincingly and well. But this is true:

Lennox is the best heavyweight the sport has ever produced.

He got knocked out twice. He didn't have a weak chin, but neither did he have a completely iron chin in the same way the upper extremity guys did. He's basically 7/10 in this department. But at everything else there's no-one close:

    Punishing Accuracy
    Power
    Core Strength
    Jab
    Intelligence
    Outside
    Inside

He ruined everyone he fought and did so with a clear natural aversion to getting his hands truly dirty.

The semi-threatening fights he boxed his way to victory. The genuinely threatening fights he just laid waste to them to eliminate said threat completely.

He beat everyone, EVERYONE in his era.

Convince me otherwise and tell me who's better

Well I would bet the house on him beating anyone that come before him, Ali, Foreman Holmes etc.. Prime Tyson might be able to do something with him, but I don't think someone like Ali can do anything with him

    I'd give 1986 Tyson 35% chance of bum-rushing him.

But yeah I agree. He'd box Foreman, out-muscle Ali, and Knock Frazier clean out

Based upon what? We haven't even seen Usyk as a heavyweight yet...

I think Usyk would struggle against this new AJ, let alone Lennox. AJ is hard to get to, he leaves himself a good gap when he's defensive. Lennox leaves an even bigger gap between his opponent. We just saw how powerful that gap can be because you can really take advantage of the jab (See Garcia vs Spence for example). I don't see how Usyk's only method of winning is possible in this fight. How does he win on points if the reach advantage is absolutely humongous.

Completely agree. If he fought every HW that's ever been, I would put my money Lewis. I'm sure he would pick up an L but id bet money he would win the rematch. He had so many tools in his arsenal.

he never really avenged the loss to McCall and certainly didn't ruin him. he couldn't put a dent in a guy who was having a nervous breakdown in the ring.

FWIW, I think his toughest contests H2H would be Holmes and Wlad.

But, I also thinks he overwhelms both down the line.

    Fair call.

McCall was un-dentable to be fair. But no one seriously considers him a great

You can't be the goat when you get knocked out by average fighters

lewis should have fought him a third time. don't remember if he got his **** together in time though. mccall would always be very dangerous to lewis, if he isn't having a crack breakdown. iron jaw, damn good power.

Punishing accuracy, Louis and Tyson? Power Foreman, Wilder, AJ, Liston. Core strength Liston and AJ? Jab AJ, Liston, Ali and Holmes. Intelligence Ali was far more savvy than Lewis who was very basic and didn`t have to adapt to fighters like Frazier and Foreman. Outside Fury, he`s harder to hit with the jab, Mercer and Bruno wouldn`t have touched Fury with the jab, plus Lewis never met fighters with the reach of the top 3 today that have their quality, Grant was nowhere near today`s elite. Inside Lewis used to clinch, Frazier was the master on the inside he had the greatest hooks, not a punch Lewis used a lot and it`s an inside shot, AJ has a better uppercut than Lewis had and that`s a KO inside punch.

McCall wasn`t a threat to Bruno.
