Notable fighters that don't have a left hook

Didn`t Ali have a great uppercut then hook combo I seem to remember from footage? also he through combo`s which included hooks at Tyrell and Williams. Ali used tons of hooks to beat Frazier in their second fight.

 

What I said was he didn't throw a lot of hooks and typically jabbed and threw straight one twos. All fighter's throw hooks. Ali just came to mind as a fighter that did not rely on the hook as a primary weapon like a Frazier, Trinidad, Cotto etc.

I guess he was a poor choice for this thread since it is titled "fighters that don't have a hook" but then again all fighters throw hooks. Some just throw them more then others.

Oh no, what I was asking was where you joking about Manny throwing a left hook because he`s a southpaw, maybe you meant a right hook, sorry about that.

 

He throws the straight left. He does have a nice right hook though.

 

Monzon wasn't much of a hooker imo... neither was Hearns... Same with Holmes .

 

Ali never utilized a left hook; Bonavena was 'gassed' at that point.
Holmes never had one to speak of as well.
Neither fighter's LH was going to put anyone on '***** street'.
That doesn't take anything away from both of their legacies and talent. They simply didn't really have one...

 

Ali threw tons of hooks against Frazier in their rematch.

As I stated earlier in the thread not many heavyweights can hook like Ali does here in the closing stages of round 9. Ali stuns Joe with a great left hook and then connects with two more

Start watching at the 5 minutes 50 seconds mark, at around 6.00 Ali hits Joe with the first hook and then lands two more.

Look how much quicker Ali is in this vid compared to vid of the Frazier bout above this, I know it`s the 9th round of TFOTC but even in Rd3 of that bout he wasn`t as quick as he is here against Liston and he`s so much trimmer also.
