I had no idea at the time that I was watching a future legend

Tell me times you have watched a fighter earlier in their career and had no idea that they may go on to be a great

The one I recall is when I watched Pacquiao against Agapito Sanchez unification fight
at the time Pacquiao was 33-2 (IBF BW champ) and Sanchez 31-9-2 (WBO BW champ)
The fight ended in a technical draw. It was a real struggle for both.

    Watch the fight

Not the same but Terry Flanagan. I thought he was just a domestic level lightweight but he has done well for himself. Ricky Burns as well, who would have thought he would win a version of a world title in three different weight divisions.

When you recall Burns losing to A Arthur and C Johannesan and both losses were clear, I have to agree, I wouldnt have thought he would have been a 3 weight champ either

I saw quite a few guys in amauter tournaments or early on as pro's. I saw Errol Spence, Floyd Mayweather jr., Corey Spinks, Devon Alexander, Terron Millet, and Arthur Johnson all compete at a young age.

Tonight I'm going to the St Louis Golden Gloves and might get to see another future star. Terron Millet has a son that is competing and looks to be the deal.

When I saw Lomachenko at the 07 world champs. Then when I saw him at the 08 Olympics I knew I was watching an ATG, and something new in boxing.

When I saw Willie The Worm Monroe (the original one lol) beat Marvelous Marvin Hagler, I had no clue that Hagler would go on to be one of the greatest MW champions ever.

I remember watching Tyson Fury punching himself in the face on ITV4. If youd have told me hed be the number one heavy to take over from the klitchkos I would have advised you to punch yourself in the face too.

    Thats a good post.
Hagler became a great but at that time when watching him, I doubt many thought he would go on to become the legend that he did

Fury was one fighter that I did watch early on and thought would be a HW champion
I thought Gzegorz Proksa was going to become a world champion when I watched him earlier on in his career

Although hed already been a champion there wasnt a chance on Earth I thought Wlad would go on a ten year reign of terror after watching Corrie Sanders beat holy hell out of him in two rounds.
