This is one thing I don't miss about HBO for example any of their Roman Gonzalez fights, im hearing this a lot now with ESPN for Lomachenko. Joe Tessitore just slobbering all over another man is disgusting to listen to. What do u all think?
I think they should be impartial journalists, but instead they're too often salesman, pushing a particular fighter or interpretation of a fight because he's the guy the network is building up. I don't think this will ever stop, so I'd like a second no commentary audio stream. That won't happen either as the commentary is also used to plug upcoming fights too.
There needs to be an option to purchase PPV with or without commentary. For me, no commentary every time. Would never have to listen to Froch give a 10 - 10 round again.
I don't mind slightly biased or fanboyish commentary provided there's a basic level of professionalism there. No obvious agendas. I only lose my cool when it becomes clear that commentators have been told to push a fighter's skills above their actual level or when one commentator is so enamoured of a fighter that they unduly praise everything they do while ignoring anything the opponent is doing.
It is okay when a fighter they promote is actually dominating a fight. But we often see that their fighter is not doing much and the rounds are close, but they making it seem like it is a mismatch. The vivid example is Charlo - Harrison - they didn't give Harrison any credit, didn't acknowledge the work that he did, and from the very beginning acted like Charlo is destroying him. And then they were surprised when Harrison got a nod and were crying like this was a robbery of the century, even though it was no robbery at all.
Yeah and afterwards Korobov destroyed the other bum brother and they're acting like the dec was fine in the end (119-108!!!)....pathetic
