Not to long ago Chavez sr was supposed to have an exhibition match with Duran I was super excited but never happened what would have happened if they met in their primes?
I think we just did this a week ago....I pick Chavez but we have a legion of Duran fans here that won’t stand for that kind of...Ooooopppppssss here they come now. Gotta go
Lol I'd lean towards..... dang hard question could go either way. Both AGT in my view! I'd say if a gun was to my head i'm picking Duran but i'm biased towards Duran so my judgement could be off. Chavez Sr was so so so good in his prime so was Duran. 50/50 fight in all fairness both great warriors!
It is a tough fight. Combinations Duran and physicality some might be surprised in this Chavez. I think Duran would edge it and win a decision or late knockout.
my bad not here every day but I'd personally pic duran over my favorite fighter of all Time might have been @Rumsfeld YouTube channel that broke them down

People love to tout Duran as this master boxer with amazing defense. But he was almost never that guy at 135. At 135 he was really a brawler who could be very hittable but dominated due to his strength, power and footspeed. I thi k Chavez is a little more versatile and has the better chin. Super close gun to my head Chavez would win 6/10
Duran showed a lot of guile in the third DeJesus fight, I feel Estaban would have done better v Chavez and may have punched harder, I don`t think Chavez could hurt Duran enough, I feel Leonard threw harder and faster shots in his first fight v Roberto than Chavez did, good as Chavez was he never matched Montreal, Duran was awesome in that bout at 147, he`d beat Julio at that weight but any weight lower would be much closer.
Chavez was dropped by Randall at 140 and Duran took hard shots for 15 rounds off Ray, even the middleweight power puncher Barkley couldn`t knock Duran out, neither could Hagler, I know it`s silly to compare Chavez and Duran at 160 but Chavez could not have taken punches from Marvin and Iran, Duran also destroyed a light middle champ.
Duran would beaten M.Taylor more convincingly than Chavez did, Taylor often didn`t move off the center line after throwing his combo`s and no fighter could beat Duran doing that with the power he had at the lighter weights, he would have finished Taylor earlier than in the final round like Chavez did in that epic clash.
Chavez was awesome in his two fights v Mayweather but Duran would have been even more impressive, I know Chavez finished Roger in 2 in their first fight but he still seemed a little open as he was coming in, even though his defense was much better in the rematch, Duran`s power and abilitty to slip would have far too much for RM who was basically a poor man`s Hearns in terms of trying to exploit his reach.
While it's become somewhat fashionable to cast shadows upon Duran even a great lightweight like Chavez just isn't going to get it done. Duran is a bit better at just about everything and would absolutely win for mine. He was quite raw but utterly brutal around the time he won the title from Buchanan but by the time he put on that stunning clinic some 6 years later in the rubber match with De Jesus he was pretty much the complete package. He was an absolutely awesome fighting machine and we have seen few, if any, better.
