I can’t argue with anything you wrote. My point was that in that particular fight many say Spence won based on skill and not size, when in truth it was a combination of having the skill to utilise your size in that particular fight. Mayweather and Pac have been in fights were their opponents have not had the skill to do that, but of course that’s testament to Mayweather and Pac’s ridiculous abilities.
Too many other examples of other guys giving up way more size than Mikey did and still winning. Mikey came with a dumb game plan and paid for it. Mikey assumed that Spence being a southpaw and relatively green would be easy pickings for counter rights, but Spence came prepared. When Mikey’s counter rights got neutralized Mikey didn’t have anything else to fall back on. Mikey had more than enough power to hurt Spence, since when he landed he stopped Spence in his tracks. but after the first two rounds became too predictable. Brook and Khan on the other hand couldn’t put a dent in GGG or Canelo and didn’t have a prayer of winning or surviving.
Well its obviously both. Shrink Spence down to Garcias height and it would have been much closer. To me however, Garcia is basic, so is Spence with added variety and pressure, but how well can he pressure without that size advantage.
Of course, there are many examples of fighters that have not been able to utilise their physical advantages. However, that should have no baring on how you see another fight. Spence did have the skill to utilise his physical advantages against Mikey. We’ve seen it. It did happen. Look at it this way. Spence may very well be a more skilled fighter, but it still doesn’t take away the fact that he was able to, and did, use his size advantage in the fight. I’m not taking anything away from either fighter, but just pointing out something that seems obvious.
