Who is the worst big-name television boxing analyst out there?

The Merchant thread made me ask this question:

For myself, I'd have to say Ferdie Pacheco without a doubt. He is among the least knowledgeable, and he consistently mis-judges what is going on in the ring.

But the deciding factor is Pacheco's character. More specifically, I abhor the way he so frequently gets ad hominem, insulting boxers and their motives - in many cases without any grounds for doing so. He is basically Skip Bayless of boxing. (One of the things that makes me detest Bayless is that he frequently questions whether a player is really hurt when he leaves a game due to injury. Bayless has the gall to continuously imply that these injured athletes are quitting because they are playing badly and embarrassed - almost always without warrant. I find this disgusting, and I always wonder why he doesn't get reprimanded by the networks - and even assaulted by the players whose honor he questions.) Perhaps the worst case was when Pacheco questioned whether G-Man was hurt when it was evident that something was seriously wrong in the last moments of the Benn fight. This moment is even more egregious, because Pacheco is a freaking medical doctor and ought to know better.

An honorable mention goes to Foreman, primarily due to his boxing ignorance. I've said my piece about him elsewhere, and I do not want to bash him too much as I think he's a good guy. In contrast, I think Pacheco is a mean-spirited jerk, so no venom is spared.

Smith is not a boxing analyst though. He is... well... just a loudmouth ;)

But his seat mate Kellerman is indeed a boxing analyst, and yes, he's quite annoying, too. But also quite articulate and well-informed.

Agree on Percheco. Very unlikeable. Contrast him to Gil Clancy, who I love to listen to commentate. I know who I'd pick.

Max Kellerman is knowledgable, but very annoying, and increasingly bias, though how much of that down to network 'influence' I don't know.

Mallinagi is also knowledgable without good application, though he is very good at reading a fight (as you'd expect). He also speaks like he has a hamster on wheels in his brain. He can also be quite bias to certain fighters.

I don't know what happened to Foreman. He was quite good as a commentator for a time, then suddenly went funny. Probably full of grease :)

Lampley has a great voice and call outs, not knowledgable though works great with an experienced boxer e.g Jones.

I wish Tyson would be a commentator. One of the most knowledgable ever in the sport. Has probably watched the most film as well, including rare film from Jacobs library.

I also like Atlas, although he's crazy!

Gil Clancy was a gem! Totally agree on Kellerman's bias; and he will never - ever - admit he's wrong, even when factually proven. Yes, Tyson is indeed under-rated in his knowledge.

Clancy is one of my favourites.
He trained Emile Griffith. He knew what he was talking about.

Also in my opinion Tyson is probably one the MOST knowledgable out there, in any peroid. His knowledge is immense, especially as a young man.

Gil Clancy hated Monzon... it was pathological and fairly transparent (wonder why?) Still, I loved Gil.

Can't stand Max but he keeps up on the sport. Biased as all hell. I'll go with Max.

David Haye is a sometimes pundit in Britain and is woeful.

Gil Clancy in my opinion was the best, Kellerman is as annoying as a bee at a picnic. I like Atlas, and Al Bernstein on occasion though he sometimes really screws one up.

In terms of British commentators and pundits, Richie Woodhall is absolutely abysmal. If it's a Brit fighting a non-Brit, his bias goes in to overdrive and he makes zero effort to hide it (or he's simply too self-absorbed and jingoistic to realise it). He was particularly awful for Hatton-Senchenko and Fury-Cunningham. Just couldn't give Senchenko or Cunningham any credit and his claims about how well the British fighter was performing in both cases was laughably deluded.

John Rawling, too. Like Woodhall, essentially just a glorified cheerleader. But he's so smug to go with it, and seems to have only superficial knowledge of the sport.

Going back across the pond, how about Benny Ricardo? Largely because of the stupid way he used to theatrically pronounce "Guillllleeerrrrrmo a-Rrrrrigondeaux!" Also for that bubble perm and the fact that he looks like an extra from a Wham! video.

Probably Ferdie but most of them are pretty worthless, imo. Even Gil Clancy was annoying sometimes.

Pacheco & Kellerman are the ones I dislike the most.

Clancy and Tim Ryan were my favorite team.
